From Gréoux-les-Bains to Saint-Martin-de-Brômes

Park at the Pujol ruins on the outskirts of Gréoux-les-Bains towards Riez, on the left opposite the pumping station; access by car is possible via a stony track.

(S/E) At the wooden signpost marked “Ruines Pujol”, take the track leading uphill straight ahead, towards “Le Marchand de Nuages”, marked with red and white signs.

(1) When you reach a junction of two tracks, continue straight ahead. At a bend, take the track on the left; this is a short cut.

(2) Return to the track and turn left.

(3) At the “Marchand de Nuages” signpost, continue straight on towards Valensole.

(4) At the “Drovers' Road of the Part” signpost, turn left towards Valensole, leaving the red and white markings, and continue along the fairly flat track. Pass two beautiful yew trees and follow the orange markings.

(5) At the entrance to the woods, at the junction of two tracks, turn right.

(6) At the junction, leave the orange markings and turn right onto an old road that winds its way down.

(7) At the junction of several tracks, continue straight ahead.

(8) Pass in front of a metal shed and take the small tarmac road on the right.

(9) At the entrance to the village of Saint-Martin-de-Brômes, take the first small road on the left, marked with yellow signs, and continue straight on towards the village. Pass to the right of the tower and the church and continue straight on.

(10) At the signpost marked “la Tour”, continue straight on towards Gréoux-les-Bains, take the second street on the left, then the steps on the right, then the second street on the left (Grand Carrer), pass in front of “La Bougresse” and the hotel, and continue straight on.
On leaving the village, at a small parapet, take a small path leading down to the right, go down the steps, cross the D952 and take the bridge over the Colostre.

(11) At the "Pont du Colostre" signpost, take the small path towards "Le Payanet", marked with yellow and red/white signs. After 300 m, at the junction of two paths, leave the marked trail and turn left.

(12) Join a track suitable for vehicles, turn right onto this track and rejoin the red and white markings. Follow the signs for Esparron-de-Verdon, passing the Payanet horse farm, then the horse-riding lodge. Continue to follow the red and white markings; at the bends, ignore the paths on the left.

(13) At the “Oppidum” signpost, leave the track temporarily, turn right towards “belvédère” to reach the foot of an electricity pylon, admire the views and return to the “Oppidum” signpost. Continue towards Esparron-de-Verdon.

(14) At the junction of the two tracks, leave the signposted route, continue straight on; after 200 m you’ll reach the D315, turn right, and take this road to Gréoux-les-Bains. Caution: there is a small path through the hairpin bends, but it is very dangerous.

(15) 30 metres after the bridge over the Colostre, turn left and go down the steps to reach the Verdon; at the bottom of the steps, turn right and walk along the undulating rocks. Join a path, follow a wire fence and, after a few metres, turn left and continue along the Verdon. Take a track on the right to reach the Chemin de Saint Christol

(16) Join the Riez road (D952), cross the road, and take the track leading into the woods. At the “Le Palud” signpost, go straight on towards the Ruines Pujol, following the red and white markings, and arrive at the starting point, Ruines Pujol (S/E).

At the start, on the climb, turn round for a view of Gréoux-les-Bains and Cadarache in the distance.
Between (3) and (4), through a gap in the vegetation, there is a view of the Esparron-de-Verdon Lake dam.
(5) Admire the view of the village of Saint-Martin-de-Brômes.
Between (5) and (6), as you pass the yew trees, turn your head to the left to see the village of Saint-Grégoire in the distance and, before entering the woods, enjoy the view of the village of Valensole and, above all, admire the 360° mountain panorama
In the village of Saint-Martin-de-Brômes, admire the beautiful tower; you can take a 50-metre detour to visit the church
After the Pont du Colostre signpost, on the small path, there is a beautiful view of the village of Saint-Martin-de-Brômes.
At the foot of the electricity pylon at the viewpoint, admire the view of Gréoux-les-Bains and the Esparron-de-Verdon dam

Walking along the D315, admire Lake Esparron-de-Verdon and the dam, then along the Verdon after the bridge over the Colostre; on the right, behind a small embankment, you can see a small water supply channel which you will find again at the car park of the Gréoux-les-Bains thermal baths
