Easy parking after the last buildings on the lake road.
(S/E) Go up the road and take the path that descends (briefly) to the right. The Sourn valley leads you to a track that you must follow down to the right until you reach the Pellas well, barely visible on your left. Head towards the cistern.
(1) Take the path that climbs behind it and follow the mountain bike signs until you reach the junction with a wide track. You will pass a first ventilation shaft for the Verdon canal.
(2) A path starts just opposite and ends in a small valley, which you will climb up by turning left for a few dozen metres.
(3) Take the first path that climbs to the right. At the next junction, keep left and join a wider path.
(4) Turn left again and continue to the open ridge.
(5) Turn left onto the track and walk alongside the cistern. Continue for about 250 metres.
(6) Take the mountain bike trail that descends to the right and continue to the next junction.
(7) Turn right.
(8) On the climb, take the track that branches off to the left until you reach a junction with a beautiful view of the lake. Continue to the left.
(9) Take the first path down to the right to the ancient path.
(10) Follow it, turning left; it will take you to the lake after crossing the canal via a stone bridge.
(11) Walk along the canal on the left (and choose your swimming spot if you wish).
(12) When you reach the car park entrance, cross the embankment and climb up through the undergrowth to the left of the canal tunnel entrance. Follow the cliff on the left until you reach the canal service staircase.
(13) Turn left immediately at the end of the stairs.
(14) After a second staircase, climb up the valley on the left to a terrace at the bottom of which you will find a ruin. Cross it and climb up the slag heap of another ventilation shaft on the right. Continue along the ridge of the slag heap. Cairns indicate a path on the left that leads to a more frequently used trail, which takes you to the right towards the shaft, where you should keep to the right.
Turn left at the next junction and join a wide track. Continue straight ahead on this track, which branches off to the right at the cistern.
(15) Take the second path on the right and follow the ridge, admiring the views of Ventoux, Lure and the Alps. Ignore the steep mountain bike trail that descends to the left and continue along the ridge to a clearing, which you cross to join a path that descends to the left and takes you to the lake road.
(16) Cross over to the path opposite, which leads to the Notre-Dame des Œufs chapel.
(17) Continue until you reach the lake road. Follow it to the right until you reach the car park (S/E).
Some sections are tricky, particularly due to construction work. See reviews.
