Departure from the free car park located on the edge of the D82 coming from Gréoux-les-Bains
(S/E) From the car park, walk down to the pretty village of Esparron-de-Verdon and cross it towards the lake. You will soon find theGR®4trail markers. Follow them to climb up to the church and castle towards Quinson.
(1) Shortly after passing the castle, turn right onto Chemin de la Tuilière (this path is actually a small tarmac road) and follow it until you reach a left-hand bend.
(2) At the bend and at a memorial stone, take the small path that descends towards the lake shore. There are many tracks, but simply follow the lake shore as closely as possible until you come to a fenced property.
(3) Walk back up along the fence and join a path that goes uphill.
(4) This path widens shortly afterwards and runs alongside a few villas before rejoining the Chemin de la Tuilière. Continue to the right until you reach the "Pont Coupé" site.
(5) Follow the yellow-marked trail that climbs to the left through the forest and ascends until it joins a wide track called "Chemin de la Séouve".
(6) Take this track on the right (there is no need to go to the television relay station and back!) and continue to a four-way crossroads.
(7) Take the only unmarked and un-signposted track on the right. Continue to a T-junction.
(8) Continue left, towards the Grandes Plaines, on the track that runs alongside large fields, some of which are planted with lavender.
(9) When the path moves away from the edge of the field, turn right to join another track and follow it to the left for a few dozen metres until you reach another four-way crossroads.
(10) At this crossroads, begin a round trip to the banks of the lower Gorges du Verdon and the natural site known as the "Salle à Manger" (Dining Room). To get there, turn right onto another wide track and follow it until it becomes narrower.
(11) In a right-hand bend, look for the path that branches off to the left and leads to the cliffs overlooking the gorges. The path is not well marked but is obvious. At the end of the path, there is a lookout post and a few rocky platforms overlooking the gorges.
(12) Then retrace your steps.
(11) Continue left on the original path, which becomes narrower but remains marked and flanked by a few cairns.
(13) Pay attention so you don't miss the path that branches off to the left (not shown on the map) and, between forests and balcony passages, reach the Verdon.
(14) Enjoy the site, then return to the previous crossroads of four tracks.
(10) Continue straight ahead and join theGR®4at a cross-trail.
(15) Turn left and follow the track (GR®4) to the four-track junction you passed earlier.
(7) Turn right towards Esparron-de-Verdon (numerous directional arrows). A few metres further on, take the path on the left, follow it to the tarmac road and continue a few metres to the right.
(1) Turn left to reach the village and then the car park located on the edge of the D82 (S/E).
