From Vitrac to Montfort, following the course of the Dordogne
Follow the course of the Dordogne along a circular route that links Vitrac and its hamlets to Montfort, a medieval village dominated by its castle, which guards the cingle (meander) formed by its rocky spur.

As you follow this well-marked circular, taken from the region's guidebooks, you will discover the village of Vitrac, perched on its plateau and dominated by the church and castle. After passing through the forest, you will discover the Château de Marobert.

This well-marked loop, taken from the region's guidebooks, will take you through the village of Vitrac, perched on a plateau and dominated by its church and castle, as well as the medieval village of Montfort and its castle.
Circuit around Chateau de Fenelon
Pretty route starting through mixed woodland with frequent good views, then climbing to a stunning viewpoint over the Dordogne valley. Mostly fairly gently undulating, with one short but steep descent, and then a steep climb just before the best viewpoint. Mainly on well-marked and defined woodland paths with some bits on very quiet country lanes.
Ribeyrone path via Masclat Castle
This route, with its varied landscapes, will allow you to enjoy the bucolic setting of the Ribeyrone valley, the wooded solitude of Le Mal Perdu and, finally, the rural architecture of the authentic village of Masclat with its castle and wash houses.
In the holm oak forest at La Roque-Gageac
Come and discover this beautiful town with its 19th-century houses along the Dordogne. Then set off among the holm oaks, walking alongside old stone walls, dry stone huts and a wash house, with numerous views of the Dordogne as your guide. At the end of the walk, plan a short trip on a gabarre to admire this town from a different angle.
The heights of La Roque-Gageac
A short, quick walk starting from La Roque-Gageac through the woodland and away from the crowds during busy periods.
It offers some beautiful views of the circular river bend whilst enjoying plenty of shaded sections.
The final section takes place in the upper part of the village, right at the foot of the cliff, where you can add to the experience by exploring a unique botanical garden situated around the church and the town hall.
The cliffs of La Roque-Gageac
This short circular loop around La Roque-Gageac offers a return trip with views from the top of the La Roque cliffs and a crossing of the village from east to west.
Between the Dordogne and the walnut groves at La Roque-Gageac
A short, easy hike between La Roque-Gageac and Castelnaud with beautiful views of the village and the castles of Castelnaud-la-Chapelle, Beynac and the Dordogne valley. Crossing the stream to reach the viewpoint is optional.

Marminiac was situated on the Roman road linking Périgueux to Cahors. This idyllic walk will take you through unspoilt countryside and, who knows, as you round a sunken lane, you might even come across traces of these ancient roads!
