A tour of the village of Domme

Park in one of the many car parks (chargeable) around and within the village.

(S/E) Start at the Domme Tourist Office, Place de la Halle. Take Rue Jacques de Malleville on the left for 50 metres, then turn right onto Rue Carrere du Calel and, after 50 metres, turn left onto Rue des Consuls, continuing until you reach Rue de Paillole.

(1) Turn right onto Rue de la Paillole until you reach the Porte des Tours, which served as a guard post. After visiting the gate, if you wish, continue along the extension of Rue de la Paillole, Rue du Guet, for 130 metres. Carry on along Rue de la Treille, then turn into the small alleyway on the left to reach the Porte de la Combe, 40 metres away. Continue straight on along the Promenade des Remparts, then, after about 140 metres, turn slightly left to reach the Porte del Bos.

(2) Turn right onto Rue de la Boétie and follow it to Place de la Rhode. Turn left onto Rue de la Monnaie and, after 60 m, turn left onto Rue de la Chapellenie. After 60 m, turn slightly right onto Rue Guibert de Domme and head up Rue des Bambous.

(3) Turn left onto Rue Paul Reclus, take the path on the left which joins Rue de la Cigale (or Rue de la Couleuvre on OSM), and carry straight on to admire the windmill. Walk behind it to reach the ruins of the Château du Roy. Retrace your steps and turn left onto Rue du Vieux Moulin, continuing for about a hundred metres.

(4) Turn left into the public garden, then turn right onto the path leading to the Esplanade du Jubilé, and continue along the Promenade des Falaises. You’ll reach the Belvédère de la Barre, which overlooks the Dordogne from a height of 150 metres.

(5) Turn right to reach the Place de la Halle, follow it to the right and then turn left to walk round it, ending the walk at the Place de la Halle (Tourist Office) (S/E).
