La Garine

Physically demanding climb between km 3 and 6.
Mont Verdun and Château de la Barollière

Gentle climb up the Limonest corniche, which offers beautiful views of Fourvière.

A large loop, close to Lyon, through fields and forests and across the vast grounds of the Château de Saint-Bonnet. The Visorando app may be useful on certain sections that have been modified from the original route.
A loop starting from Vaugneray

This hike alternates between forests, meadows and beautiful views of the Rhône valley and the Alps, mainly on paths and small roads. There are no technical difficulties, just a few steep slopes.
Route between Bagnols and Alix

A lovely, easy route with a section in the woods, stream crossings and a passage near the Villefranche-Tarare aerodrome, which can be quite busy at weekends and therefore generate some noise. A pleasant view of the Beaujolais mountains and the golden stone villages.
In the Land of Golden Stones

A hike that follows paths and little-used roads through the Pierres Dorées region in the Beaujolais area near Lyon. Between vineyards and meadows, this route takes you to charming villages, castles, wash houses, mission crosses and more. An ideal walk in spring, autumn (when the vineyards are ablaze with colour) and winter.
Monts d'Or geological footpath

This is an easy route, best undertaken with good walking shoes. However, be careful in wet weather as the clay soil can be slippery and muddy in places. Along the route, there are information panels explaining the formation of the Monts d'Or massif.
From Chasselay to the Batterie des Carrières

This circular starting from Chasselay will take you to the Batterie des Carrières (a fortification dating from 1874) through vineyards and forests. You will see the perfectly restored Poleymieux lime kiln, surrounded by numerous panels describing how it worked. On the way back, depending on the season, you may see various orchids and martagon lilies.

Meadows, orchards and woods follow one another on the hillsides where, from late spring to early summer, raspberries, strawberries, cherry blossoms and other red fruits flourish. The contrasting plots of land create a very varied and pleasant landscape, including wooded areas of oak, chestnut and hornbeam coppices. Exceptional panoramic views of the Tarare mountains (particularly from the "Lafont" orientation table), Lyon and the Ain plain. Virtually no tarmac. Pure bliss!

This circuit is a microcosm of everything that makes the Pierres Dorées region of the Beaujolais so rich and charming: some of the most beautiful villages (Bagnols, Moiré), churches and chapels, crosses and castles, wash houses and splendid panoramic views of the surrounding mountains, vineyards and forests.
The Yzeron valley between Francheville and Craponne

Woods and river in the city! It's difficult to find an area entirely covered in trees that is both close to Lyon and large enough for several hours of walking.The paved sections are very limited; you mainly walk in a steep-sided valley, along the water's edge, namely the Yzeron stream, and under the constant canopy of trees. This makes it ideal during hot weather.The route is mostly flat, except for the loop on Findez hill.For those who dislike tarmac and don't want to go too far, this valley nestled between Craponne and Francheville is a good choice.
