The walk starts on the left bank of the Azergues, opposite the Lozanne Post Office. Park along the road.
(S/E) Head down to the riverbank and turn left along the river to reach a footbridge.
(1) Continue under the footbridge and go straight on. The path leads back up to the road; be sure to keep to the right. Head straight across the field if possible.
(2) Continue straight on; you’ll find yourself at the heart of the matter with the Azergues on your right, and simply follow the path to reach theGRP®® Tour des Pierres Dorées en Beaujolais, marked in red and yellow, then you’ll cross the Chemin de Gage.
(3) On your left are fields where I’ve always seen plenty of birds; do feel free to stop for a few minutes. Continue along the Azergues until you reach a wood.
(4) Enter the woods and continue along theGRP®® trail, which veers slightly away from the riverbank until you reach a crossroads of paths.
(5) Turn left and walk through the old riverbed. A little further on, as you leave the woods, walk past two sports grounds to reach the bridge.
(6) Take the steps up to the bridge. Stay on the pavement along the bridge, then go down the steps on the other side. Take care on these steps as they are very steep. Leave theGRP® here and take a path on the right bank of the Azergues. The return walk along the river takes you to a leisure park, perfect for a picnic.
(7) Carry on and enjoy the views of the river until you reach the Hemin de Lozanne crossroads.
(8) Carry on to the right along this path; bear in mind that the last kilometre is of little interest but takes you to the first footbridge to return to the starting point (S/E).
