Description of the walk

(S) From Lozanne station, take the path directly opposite, cross the road and take the path to the left of the post office. Turn right along the Azergues, continue straight on until you reach a footbridge and cross it. Turn right onto the road, staying behind the safety barriers. You’ll reach the junction with Impasse des Vernes.

(1) Take the path opposite. Follow this path until you reach the Azergues again.

(2) Follow the river, staying on the well-marked path, until you reach the sports grounds. Continue along the river, going round the footbridge. Pass the sewage treatment works and carry on straight ahead until you reach the D 16E road.

(3) Cross the road and, opposite, take the Babouin hill and immediately turn right onto the rampart walk. Climb the steps to reach a square. Turn right, then take the second street on the left towards the church. Walk past the church and turn right. Turn into the second street on the left, Rue du Gros Bois. Cross the road and take the first right into Rue des Frères Lumière.
Continue along the street to the right; at the end, turn right, then immediately left. Follow a cycle path, ignoring the roads you cross. You’ll reach the junction with the Chemin des Aubépines.

(4) Turn left onto it, continue straight on and then turn right onto Chemin des Brousses. Walk through the vineyards. At the ‘La Brousse’ signpost, go straight on towards Petites Jarentes. Take the path opposite that leads up through the vineyards, then turn right onto a good track. Ignore the branch that heads off to the left.

(5) Turn right and then immediately left onto Chemin des Taupinières. When you reach the house on the left, turn right onto the track towards Saint-Pierre. Take the road on the left and walk through the village. Follow the road to the right towards Morancé and immediately take a track branching off to the left. Follow this track until you reach a road.

(6) Follow it to the right and pass through the hamlet of La Ronze. On leaving the hamlet, turn left onto Chemin de Fontlent. Take the second road on the left and continue until you reach the signpost for Les Calles.

(7) Turn right, then at the ‘Le Crêt’ signpost, turn left towards Marcy-en-Beaujolais. At the road, turn left, then just before the junction, turn right onto a path that runs between the houses. You’ll reach Marcy cemetery; head up to the left towards the telegraph tower to read the information boards about the Chappe telegraph.

(8) Return to the road and continue straight on along a footpath. Ignore the first two streets you cross and take the third on the right. Continue left onto Route de Frontenas. Carry on to the right, then take the second street on the right, Chemin du Rabat. Continue until you reach the junction with Chemin des Tortières.

(9) Turn right here and then leave the tarmac to continue along a track leading to the junction with the Chemin du Lavoir.

(10) Turn left here towards Le Chevronnet. Continue until you reach the junction marked by the Le Chevronnet signpost.

(11) Turn right. Cross the D 39 road and continue along the track opposite. Follow this track to reach the hamlet of Monèron (E), today’s destination.
