Le Pradet walks

This route takes you along part of the coastal path and through a mountain range offering exceptional 360° views, both towards the sea and inland. You will walk along paths through woodland, steep trails and open paths, with stunning panoramic views.

Le Pradet is a true paradise for hikers. Its trails offer exceptional views of the Mediterranean, fascinating historical remains and unspoilt nature. This coastal path winds between beaches and cliffs, offering breathtaking views of the sea. It leads to Garonne Beach, passing by coves and exceptional viewpoints, and finally to Fort Saint-Louis.

This easy hike will take us around a temporary lake and to one of the viewpoints of Carqueiranne, following the paths of my childhood in the countryside surrounding this village, which has changed so much since then.

Explore the town and a small mountain with an orientation table and a beautiful view.

This hike is inspired by the hike Le petit lac du Vallon et le Mont des Oiseaux in Carqueiranne, but stays on the Sabatière site, avoiding the descent via the Col du Serre.We did it with Year 3 and Year 4 pupils. It is therefore completely accessible to all walkers, even beginners.

Route on the rocky slopes of Mont Faron, starting between Toulon and La Valette-du-Var, practically in the town centre. The appeal of this hike is its slightly challenging and wild nature in the immediate vicinity of Toulon.

If you have an hour or two to spare, here is a short walk (tinged with a certain nostalgia) with no other pretensions than to discover or rediscover a corner of Carqueiranne that has not changed too much.

A lovely walk to get some fresh air, alternating between urban (residential) areas, nature and the sea. Route improved to avoid the section along Boulevard du Dr Bougarel, which was a real pain (few or no pavements, and heavy traffic).

A circular loop in the hills above La Farlède. It follows a steep-sided valley, climbs up to a field of rockroses, joins the Canal de Provence through the woods and returns to the houses and car park by the chapel. Numerous fossils and other structures appear on the limestone walls and ground. The vegetation covers and hides many terraces and other ruins, signs of active human occupation until at least the beginning of the last century.

This route will take you up to Solliès-Ville and then past the Notre-Dame du Deffens Chapel. On the way back, you will follow the bed of an old stream.

This hike combines physical activity with culture. It will take us on a journey of discovery through the ruins of Hyères Castle. The local council has installed information panels on the site, allowing us to imagine what life was like in those days. Before that, this beautiful walk will take us to the recently renovated Notre-Dame du Fenouillet Chapel.

In a private estate where walkers, cyclists and horse riders are welcome, you will have access to a magnificent Provençal setting, with an 18th-century château at the heart of its 160-hectare vineyard, and you will walk alongside the banks of the River Gapeau and its tributaries, the Petit Real and the Jonquière. This circular route is suitable for families.

A nice climb to the top of Coudon (altitude 702 m) near Toulon.

Explore the old town and follow the Toulon coastline. This route will take you along the fortifications, through the market, around the harbour, to the main sights, along the customs path, across the beaches, over the railway lines and through the parks – it’s a city walk. This figure-of-eight route can be split into two equal parts. It’s best to go in the morning to experience the market’s hustle and bustle. Avoid Sundays and Mondays as many shops are closed.

A natural asset exploited by the local glass industry. A route through woodland where you will see the remains of dwellings, wells, sand and stone quarries, and former industry, near the derelict hamlet of Les Olivières.

A circular through the forest to discover the sand quarry that supplied the Tourris glassworks, with some nice surprises inside if you have a head torch, torch or mobile phone. Then we will go to the old marble quarry in Le Revest where some blocks have been engraved, not only with ants, which are in the majority, but also with bees, butterflies, wild boars and a wolf. Finally, we will pass through the hamlet of Les Olivières, which was part of the commune of Le Revest and was abandoned at the beginning of the 20th century: ruins of houses, wells, cisterns and ovens. Don't miss the central square with its magnificent centuries-old oak tree. And we will end with the abandoned glassworks of Tourris. A beautiful walk for the curious, young and old alike. If you take your time, allow 3½ hours for this fascinating walk.

A circular walk for a short walk in the Costebelle hills, passing by Bastide du Plantier (where Paul Bourget lived) to the sea (Almanarre). An ideal walk to get some fresh air after work or for a Sunday stroll.

From the heights of Solliès-Ville, enjoy magnificent views of Toulon harbour, the Coudon massif, the Cuers plain and the hamlet of Vallaury. The route includes some fairly technical, rocky, stony sections with steep gradients, where it is best to watch your step. These sections can become tiresome and spoil the fun a little, hence the difficult level.

A short but refreshing hike starting from the centre of Hyères, offering beautiful views of the sea, the Giens peninsula, the Maures mountains, etc. A circular route that is ideal for tourists, especially those staying in town, or for locals looking for a Sunday morning or after-work stroll.

The Grande Traversée des Maures, or "Montem Maurum" as it was described in the Middle Ages, has never been attempted. This "diagonal route through the Maures" takes us through magnificent Provençal landscapes. A varied, wild vegetation and exceptional views punctuate this route. This adventure begins in Hyères (former Templar commandery) and ends in Collobrières (capital of the Maures) during the first stage.

A short hike that is very accessible for families!

An extraordinary panorama of the most beautiful harbour in Europe awaits you at the top of Mont Faron, 584 metres above Toulon.

An original walk that leads to a cave shelter, a flint-cutting workshop from 50,000 years ago, at the Grotte de la Ripelle. These sites on the Adret du Mont Combes bear witness to the occupation of the area, proven by numerous remains, during the Upper Palaeolithic and perhaps even earlier. If you want to do the circular, you will need to be in good physical shape and not be afraid of scree or some easy climbing. Otherwise, the sites can be accessed from either side.

A tour of 19th-century Hyères. The town became a popular winter resort for the European aristocracy. New neighbourhoods sprang up with the construction of grand hotels and opulent villas.

A walk through holm oaks to the Revest lake viewpoint passing by a cave which can be visited.

This is a short, unpretentious route, the aim of which is simply to find the source of the Ripelle and return through forgotten terraces.

From the Dardennes district, this walk will take you to the summit of Mont Combes, passing through the Tourravelle estate, with superb views of the Toulon hinterland and in particular the village of Le Revest-les-Eaux. You'll spare a thought for the Neolithic men who found the raw material for their Ripelle flint tool workshops here.

As the title suggests, this unpretentious little walk offers a pleasant stroll even if you’re short on time. It also aims to introduce an additional route along pretty paths, which can serve as an alternative to the ‘https://www.visorando.com/randonnee-a-la’ pine forest hike ...

A few efforts through sometimes difficult scree slopes and some mini-climbs will lead us to discover: - the source of the Ripelle, - the Vieille Valette karstic cave, - the Gallo-Roman and medieval ruins, where you can imagine this village as an eagle's nest (the ancestor of La Valette) - the Trou de Gaspard (de Besse) - the decorated and sculpted sand caves to be explored by torchlight, - the old Tourravelle farm and its magnificent surroundings. One of the most beautiful hikes in the Var.This hike climbs Mont Faron via wide tracks and offers breathtaking views of the most beautiful harbour in Europe.

The views of the coastline from Faron are always magnificent. What is less well known is the Toulon hinterland seen from the north-facing slope. This walk combines the two on old paths that have been restored for the occasion, with a beautiful climb up the north face to reach the summit. Excellent physical condition and good balance are required for this steep climb with some scree. The reward is at the summit.

A beautiful walk around the Saint-Mandrier peninsula. The coastal path takes you from the Pointe de Marégau to the beaches of La Coudoulière and Cavalas. Then discover the picturesque little port of Saint-Mandrier. The route ends with a return trip through the countryside. Some urban sections.

Beautiful hike around the Giens peninsula by the beach path.

This fairly challenging route in the first part offers a loop that takes you all the way around the Giens Peninsula.

I set off on two hikes taken from Visorando: "Le Revest - Château de Tourris" and "Tourris et la Pyramide de Cassini" before finding this route and suggesting it to you. The beginning of the first hike to the departmental road, then part of the beginning of the second hike. However, at the "Pyramide de Cassini", we discovered a route that does not appear on the maps but which joins the "Chemin des Turcos" in the undergrowth. This is a rugged hike that can be difficult at times.

Not a very long hike with less than 11 km but very hilly with a rocky, steep incline.

Walking along the western part of the Giens Peninsula on the coastal path is a feast for the eyes, with a succession of islets, coves and beaches, sometimes appearing behind the branches of tall pine trees.This is a fairly challenging route that follows some spectacular trails.

A short cultural walk to see up close the wall on a rocky outcrop in Malvallon, which served as a shadow clock for the farmers working on the terraces to the north of this promontory.

The hamlet of Les Olivières was abandoned in 1911, and its ruins give an idea of what life was like here: cellars, cisterns, bread oven, dwellings. A few more vestiges of times gone by. To get there, take the classic and always pleasant walk to the Barrage du Revest and the Ragas resurgence (see practical information). This hike should be avoided in wet weather.

Here is a route, which is quite challenging overall, that will take you through the wide, open spaces above Le Revest and La Tourravelle, with the majestic limestone hills of the Toulon hinterland as a backdrop.

This circular loop begins with a classic, Le Revest, the Dardennes Dam, and the Ragas spring. It continues to the impressive Impluvium (marked on maps as Citerne d'Estienne or d'Orves) on the Siou Blanc plateau. Along the way, there are several panoramic views of Mont Caume, Faron, Toulon harbour and the Hyères islands.

During this hike, we will pass through parts of Le Revest-les-Eaux that only the villagers know. The main attraction is a visit to the Baume des Cagarelles, which undoubtedly takes its name from the goat droppings on its floor when there were still herds. It is a beautiful, vast cave with a beautiful view of the sea. We will descend via a very steep path, aided by ropes strung between the trees. On the way back, we will have the opportunity to visit the dovecote, which was restored in 2005 by architect/mason Jean-Pierre Willot, commissioned by the town hall. Return via the Arrosants district... aptly named!

A fairly challenging hike, starting from the pretty village of Revest-les-Eaux, above Toulon, which you visit at the start to explore its charming little streets and its majestic 13th-century tower. The route has been amended today (20/03/2024) to avoid unpleasant surprises such as closed or private paths.

If you enjoy scrambling up the coualo (Provençal for ‘hill’) like a goat, unafraid of steep paths or the argelas, sarsaparillas, fragons and other kermes oaks, then this circular route is for you.A complete immersion in the maquis and solitude guaranteed. This path was built from scratch on the steepest section to link the dam to the quarry road via the hill.Don’t forget your secateurs to help maintain this trail.

This is an easy walk to discover the beautiful village of Le Revest-les-Eaux, nestled beneath the white slopes of the Bau du Midi, the eastern foothills of Mont Caume, and overlooking the blue expanse of its reservoir.

Choose a clear day (avoid the strong, cold mistral) for the view from the summit and set off to explore this remarkable geodetic point, the Pyramid erected by Cassini in the 18th century. Magnificent 360° views from the summit of the Grand Cap, the Pre-Alps, the Îles d’Hyères and towards La Ciotat. The approach via the Ravin du Cierge is a bit of a challenge: stony with a 400-metre climb. The effort is well rewarded at the summit. The return is a more comfortable descent.

The Cassini pyramid is the highest point in the Toulon region. This peak was used by the astronomer Cassini to establish cartography using the triangulation method. You will hike on spectacular sharp limestone pavement glaciers in a mineral world. Splendid 360° panorama.

This hike takes you to the Siou Blanc plateau. After passing the quarry, a path through the heath will lead you to a beautiful sheepfold in our region, despite its graffiti. You will enjoy a variety of landscapes and a multitude of scents that change with the seasons. Have a good walk.

Hike leading to the 784m Cassini Pyramid to discover magnificent landscapes. However, it should be avoided in high winds. In winter, you can see the snow-capped peaks of the Alps.

A short walk which takes you from the village of Giens to Darboussières Beach via the coastal path, passing through the picturesque little port of Le Niel, before returning via the Route des Crêtes. There are several magnificent viewpoints along the walk. A swim at Darboussières Beach is highly recommended!

Mont Caume is a classic hike in the Var. For those wishing to minimise the elevation gain and avoid the climb up the path from the Col du Corps de Garde, we’ve put together this more modest route featuring a gentle ascent along the road and a descent via a pleasant footpath. The main thing is to have fun and enjoy the bright, panoramic surroundings of the highest peak in the Toulon hinterland.
