The old town and the coastline of Toulon

Explore the old town and follow the Toulon coastline. This route will take you along the fortifications, through the market, around the harbour, to the main sights, along the customs path, across the beaches, over the railway lines and through the parks – it’s a city walk.
This figure-of-eight route can be split into two equal parts.
It’s best to go in the morning to experience the market’s hustle and bustle.
Avoid Sundays and Mondays as many shops are closed.

Notes

We’re in town, so getting supplies isn’t a problem.
This walk isn’t just a stroll, as it will require some effort—not because of the 40m elevation gain, but due to the coastal sections and the need for good stamina.
Avoid flip-flops. Bring your swimwear in the right season.
Sundays and Mondays are less appealing. Other days of the week are also suitable. Personally, I quite like Saturday mornings without setting off at the crack of dawn – that is, around 9 or 10 am – and having a bite to eat in a cove or popping into a little restaurant on the beaches of Le Mourillon.
With stops, detours, a bit of a stroll and daydreaming, plus any museum visits, allow a good 4 to 5 hours.
Enjoy your walk.
