The hike starts on the cycle path leading to Hyères, at the Résidence le Carthage. There are plenty of parking spaces available along the road. You can also use the bus network, line 39 serving the Carthage de Carqueiranne stop.
(S/E) Head towards Hyères on the cycle path and walk alongside a small residence. After 150 metres, just after the residence, turn left to walk alongside this residence in the large field, then continue straight on to the end of the field.
(1) Leave the field and take the path opposite, go around the small lake on your right, then continue along the path. Pass in front of a magnificent lime kiln restored by an association in Carqueiranne. Continue along the path.
(2) Ignore the sign indicating a climb to the lime kilns and continue straight ahead, walking alongside a holiday residence.
(3) At the tennis courts of the holiday residence, take the small path on the left, then turn left. Then climb until you reach two lime kilns, which are currently being restored.
(4) Take the path up to the right, then left at the next fork and continue along the path until you reach a cairn.
(5) Leave the track that branches off to the left and turn right onto the path for about 100 metres, towards a large burnt tree that is barely visible.
(6) At the fork, take the path that climbs to the left. The climb is a little steep but does not last long. Further on, descend gently towards a large meadow that climbs towards Mont des Oiseaux (barrier).
(7) Climb up to the right towards Mont des Oiseaux and enjoy the panoramic view of the surrounding hills.
(8) Climb up to the water tower to see the plain below, with a view of the airport and the beaches to the east of Hyères. Then descend via the small path running alongside the houses, turning immediately left towards the viewpoint.
(9) From the viewpoint, admire the tombolo of the Giens peninsula on the left and the Colle Noire massif. Then turn back and take the same route as on the way up to the barrier.
(7) Go around the barrier and take the gently sloping tarmac path on the right (west), passing in front of the water tower. You will arrive at the cairn you encountered on the way up.
(5) Turn left and follow the route back the way you came for about 100 metres until you reach the fork you passed on the way up.
(6) This time, leave the path that climbs uphill and stay on the path opposite, which slopes gently downhill until you see some houses.
(10) Turn right at the barrier and descend gently to the two lime kilns.
(4) Turn left to descend and rejoin the path you followed at the start of the hike.
(2) Turn right and follow the route in reverse until you reach the start of the cycle path. At the end, you can cross the meadow by the small lake before reaching the field and crossing it (S/E).
