Head to Le Revest-les-Eaux and park in the large car park on Place Jean Moulin.
(S/E) Leave the car park via the car exit and turn left onto Traverse de la Luzerne.
(1) At the end, turn right and you will immediately reach another junction.
(2) Turn left onto Chemin des Châteaux d'Eau. Head uphill and, after about 250 m, turn right onto Montée du Pigeonnier, which begins with a concrete ramp and continues as a very steep staircase, initially fitted with an iron handrail, before becoming a path that runs alongside the gate of a property directly overlooked by the dovecote perched on its monumental rock.
The path then joins a very rutted track; take this to the right to reach the dovecote, perched on a huge, ball-shaped sandstone rock. Warning: danger on this rock, where there are no guardrails: do not venture to the edge, and do not attempt to walk around the dovecote. Enjoy the view with caution and vigilance. Follow the track back up until you reach a track in good condition.
(3) Turn right onto this track, which heads almost horizontally north-east. Initially in good condition, this track gradually becomes rutted and impassable even for a 4x4. Continue along it until you run alongside an old quarry. You will come to a road.
(4) Follow this road northwards. After a few dozen metres, leave the road and turn left to walk alongside a football pitch on your left (GR® red and white markings). Walk round the football pitch to locate the start ofthe GR® trail heading towards Siou Blanc. Return to the road.
(4) Follow the road to the right and, after about fifty metres, turn left to follow theGR® towards the village. Join the road you left earlier and follow it to the left until you reach the junction you took on the way there.
(2) Continue straight on.
(1) Cross Rue de la Luzerne on the left-hand side and continue straight on. Walk past the town hall and turn left onto the Allée de la Libération, lined with plane trees, until you reach the church. Walk up this street and Rue de la Paix, then turn right onto Rue Jean Aicard, Rue Lazare Carnot, and finally Rue de la Tour. Following the route as best you can whilst continuing uphill, you will reach the medieval tower, which you can access here by passing through a covered passageway.
From the esplanade surrounding this tower, now used as a belfry (a bell in a campanile rings the hours at its summit), you can enjoy a panoramic view of the whole village, the lake, and to the east, the Tourravelle estate, Mont Combes, the Ragas ravine, etc.
Head back down via Rue de la Tour, Rue Carnot and Rue de la Paix, or any other route through the village’s narrow streets, which are well worth a stroll. Make your way to Boulevard de l’Égalité, then to the car park at Place Jean Moulin (S/E).
