Circular around Lhuis, between Milieu and Ansolin
This 15 km circular route around Lhuis will take you along an old tramway, overlooking a beautiful pond, following typical streams, observing a resurgence and crossing a scree slope. A very varied and hilly route with many beautiful trails through the woods. The climb up the Brive valley is absolutely beautiful. The visit to the lithographic limestone quarries is very well signposted on site.

Mostly shaded or covered, making it ideal in hot weather.
Circular in the Étangs de Mepieu Regional Nature Reserve
A beautiful, relatively easy walk along roads and paths, allowing you to discover the flora, fauna and habitat of this regional nature reserve. No major difficulties apart from a steady climb in the middle of the route.
A review dated 17/04/23 indicates that a section is now private (6), but it is possible that the marked trail has been diverted or that the hiker was unable to find the path due to construction work. We would appreciate it if anyone passing through the area could confirm or deny this.
Between Brangues and the Rhône
A lovely, gentle walk, part of which is along the Rhone, which you can do as a family.
Woods and marshes at Passins
A short warm-up hike through the woods, marshes and hamlets of Passins. The terrain varies between cycle paths, tracks, trails and roads. In autumn, the landscape is very colourful.
Around Poleyrieu
Walk around the hamlet of Poleyrieu. The route starts at a quarry and climbs gently through woods and meadows to the hamlet of Poleyrieu, with views of the mountains from Bugey to Chartreuse. In the distance, you can see the Belledonne mountain range. On the way back, it passes through woods, without any clearly visible trail (GPS or Visorando app useful) to reach a wild pond, the Étang Flocarde. It returns via the Devin plain.
Brive circuit from Cerin
Starting from Cerin, this mainly wooded marked trail takes you through several valleys with streams offering several waterfall passages. After rainy weather, the waterfalls are magnificent but the ground is then more slippery.
Cerin lake, fossil quarry, Chosas and Brive waterfalls
Circuit of the Chosas and Brive waterfalls, starting from Marchamp via the Lac de Cérin, the fossil quarry, the Palaeoecological Museum via the "sur les traces des carriers" (in the footsteps of the quarry workers) trail and the old mills.

Plateau des Charmilles, Grotte de la Jaquette
A beautiful hike, fairly well marked in blue with directional signs (sometimes a little faded), between 630 and 900 metres above sea level, easy, mostly on good, well-shaded paths. On very clear days, there are views of the snow-capped Alps and the villages of Marchand and Cerin. For flower lovers, between May and July, there are martagon lilies, orchids, snowdrops and erythronium. And for those who like the cool air, they can go to the Grotte de la Jaquette cave near the path.
The Tour of the Innimond Plateau
Family hike on the Innimond plateau to discover a magnificent panorama of the Alps and Mont Blanc.
The Conzieu Lakes from Saint-Benoît
A slightly longer and slightly steeper alternative route, but still not considered difficult.
There are still beautiful panoramic views, and with a bit of luck, you may see some lovely waterfalls at the start of the hike.
On the heights of Saint-Benoît
This is a very beautiful hike, especially after a few days of rain, which feeds the many streams.
The first part up to (1) is not very steep but quite long, so it is best to be in good shape.
From Innimond to Ordonnaz in a circular
I suggest a lovely walk between Innimond and Ordonnaz along the ridges (Mont Pela, Le Grand Pertuis and Le Mollard de Don), then across plateaus between forests and meadows. Along the way, you will enjoy beautiful panoramic views of the Alps.
The ridge loop at Innimond
Passing over the Cols du Grand and Petit Pertuis, you'll be amazed by this route along the ridges, which offers 360° views of the Alps, Massif Central and Jura. An easy hike for regular walkers.
The Montagne de Tentanet circular loop, via the Roman staircase
This circular route can be completed in almost any season, starting from Conzieu, which allows you to climb up to the ridge via the Escalier Romain. The ascent is along the north-west ridge, and the return route takes a detour to the west to return to Lac de Crotel. The route is wooded, but there are several viewpoints overlooking the Alps or the Rhône Valley.
The Conzieu lake tour
Hike around the Conzieu Lakes, visible from the heights, and Lac de Crotel, which cannot be seen. The hike takes place on good paths and a few steep trails. Spring or autumn in dry weather is preferable, as the few difficult passages can become slippery.

In the upper section, the high-voltage power line is a significant drawback, but the route keeps as far away from it as possible.

This route faces south, on the slopes of Crucilleux. Very pleasant between September and April/May, it allows you to enjoy every ray of sunshine. Avoid during the hot summer months. It allows you to discover varied landscapes and cross the Balmes Dauphinoises vineyards on the slopes of Crucilleux and Choulin. As you pass through the hamlets of Crucilleux and Arcisse, you can admire beautiful adobe buildings and local heritage sites (calvaries, wash houses, fountains, palisades). The path along the ridges of Mont de Crucilleux offers panoramic views of the mountain ranges from Bugey in the north to Vercors in the south, including Mont Blanc, Vanoise, Belledonne and Chartreuse.Half of this route is on paths and half on small country roads, most of which have little traffic.
