Take the forest road that descends from the D41. After 100 m, you will find a fairly large area that can accommodate 5 to 6 vehicles.
(S/E) Take the carriage road heading north for 1.8 km, heading north-northwest.
(1) At the fork, leave the track and cross the field diagonally, heading north, to reach a small path through the undergrowth that leads to the Haute-Roche stream, which is easy to cross. The path is easy to follow on the left.
(2) Cross the bridge over the Brive river, then turn right at the fork.
(3) At the edge of the field, return to the undergrowth. Turn right onto the path that runs alongside and joins the Brive river.
(4) Climb the embankment on the left until you reach a path that becomes passable by vehicle as you approach the village of Marchamp.
(5) Take the small road that climbs to the left and leads to the cemetery. It turns into a wide path that climbs northwards, above the cemetery.
(6) At the crossroads, turn right onto a beautiful stony path leading to the lithographic limestone quarries.
(7) Once on the plateau, turn right onto a shaded path that runs alongside a wetland on your left. Take the tarmac road on the right for 100 metres.
(8) Turn onto a good path that branches off to the left.
(9) At the three-way junction, turn left and then left again at the next fork.
(10) Join theGR® trail and head straight up the valley on the left.
(11) Once you reach the flat section, look out for a trail on the right that follows a gap in the forest along the ridge and then winds its way through the woods.
(12) The path plunges down to the right, descending into the valley to an open grassy area. Cross it from one side to the other and find a forest track.
(13) You will come out onto a clearing followed by a large reforested area. Cross it following the vehicle tracks.
(14) Follow the path down to Lake Ambléon.
(15) Cross the road and go around the lake on the left, then rejoin the road.
(16) Follow the tarmac road to the left for 400 metres.
(17) Take a forest path on the left that leads south.
(18) At the hairpin bend, continue to the right, going a little further into the woods until you reach a small clearing.
(19) Just before entering the clearing, look for and follow a narrow path on the right that climbs up the hillside and then winds through the wooded slope, becoming a little lost until it reaches the ridge.
(20) Join theGR®59, which follows the ridge to the right along a narrow, winding path that is steep in places.
(21) After passing the Signal marker, continue to the right on a wide, shaded forest path, continuing straight ahead.
(22) At the three-way junction, turn left and after one kilometre you will find a beautiful path through the woods.
(23) The path becomes rockier as it descends the hillside.
(24) At a bend to the left, find the discreet start of a track that climbs up to the right into the woods to join a good stony path that runs along the hillside towards the Croix de Vélisse.
(25) When the slope begins to steepen, find the start of a stony path that descends to the left to the D41. First turn right then left and return to the starting point (S/E).
