Park near the Domaine Trichon.
(S/E) The start is easy, all downhill. Walk past the wine press house, turn left at the wash house and continue downhill. You’ll come to a crossroads.
(1) Carry on straight ahead. The tarmac road ends, giving way to a dirt track suitable for vehicles. The descent continues for a while, with some shaded sections. Cross a small stream and you’ll reach a fork in the road.
(2) Turn left. If you continue straight on, you will rejoin the “Au cœur des bulles du Domaine Trichon” route. Follow the main path carefully; it will take a 90° left turn and then run alongside a field with cows. You will arrive at the heart of Domaine Trichon’s organic vineyards. Observe the many insects and animals enjoying the green manure and the peaceful life in the vineyards.
(3) You’ll have the Chardonnay vines on your left and, below them, the Gamay, and on your right... the Roussettes du Bugey or Altesse—take a good look at them, you’ll spot a hint of reddish colour even in the young shoots! Look closely, and you’ll see Groslée Castle watching over you! Continue along the path, which runs flat alongside the vineyards.
(4) Keep left at the fork and ignore the path that heads straight ahead and descends to the village of Groslée. Carry on and enjoy the view. You’ll come to the tarmac road and pass a typical Bugey-style hut on your right. The path goes downhill – make the most of it, as it’s going to go uphill soon! You’ll arrive at the Ruisseau de la Gorge.
(5) Keep left and start the climb up to our vineyards; these are old Pinot Noir vines.
(6) Continue the climb, which is gentler than the one you’ve just completed, and you’ll reach the Route des Guigards.
(7) Turn right and continue to the Route de Lhuis.
(8) Turn left and take the first path on the right. Continue along the edge of the vineyards. This is a stony path and climbs a little, but it doesn’t last long. You’ll reach a shaded stretch which is a real treat. Stay on the path until you reach the road and follow it to the Domaine de Trichon (S/E).
