Park in the car park in the centre of the village of Lhuis.
(S/E) Leaving the car park, turn left onto Rue de l'École towards the retirement home. Walk past it and continue towards Saint-Martin.
(1) You will come to a fork in the road: both streets lead there, but take the one on the right. In Saint-Martin, the pottery is signposted, so head there.
(2) Leave a path leading up to "la Chèvre" on your left, pass the pottery on your right and turn left onto a good path that runs alongside and then crosses the stream coming down from Creux du Nant. This path is marked in yellow. Leave a water catchment on your right and rejoin the path that climbs up from Ansolin.
Turn left. After 150 metres, leave the path that turns sharply to the left and continue straight ahead along the mountainside, ignoring two paths on the right. At an altitude of 650 metres, the path turns sharply to the left and a little further on describes a large curve to the right, finally joining a carriage road at an altitude of 733 metres (sign).
(3) This is where the Montagne de Tentanet loop begins. Take the road on the right and ignore all the paths on the left and right to descend to a fork at an elevation of 570 metres.
(4) Turn left and walk along the small Lac de Crotel, which is not visible from the path. Continue downhill, then start climbing slightly for 500 metres.
(5) Take a path that branches off to the left with a short but steep climb and joins theGR®59. Admire the view of Conzieu before turning left and climbing theGR®59, which is clearly marked and well signposted.
Along the way, there are some lovely views of the Conzieu Lakes first, then Lake Crotel. Watch out for some slippery rocks in the grassy section! The climb continues to the sign and marker indicating the arrival at the summit of Montagne de Tentanet.
(6) A short descent through the rocks leads to a track that is still marked in white and red. Continue along this track for 500 m until you reach a fork (sign).
(7) Leave theGR® and take the path that branches off to the left, which is poorly marked in yellow. 100 m further on, keep to the left and ignore another path that branches off sharply to the right. Follow the natural path, which describes a large arc and leads to a meadow.
(8) At this point, the path is not obvious: keep to the edge of the forest on the right for about 200 m and you will come to a path that branches off to the left. Shortly afterwards, you will rejoin the yellow markings.
Continue to the right down a steep descent on this path which, after a few bends, leads back to the carriage road at an elevation of 733 metres.
(3) Walk 50 m to the left and rejoin the path you took on the way up. Simply walk back down this path to reach the Saint-Martin pottery and then the starting point. (S/E).
