Alos (Tarn) walks

About fifteen kilometres from Gaillac, this is an easy hike in a peaceful setting of rolling hills, woods and vineyards. A few beautiful residences and several dovecotes dot the route, adding to its charm.

A pleasant circular route for exploring the Gaillac vineyards, crossing the valleys and hillsides of the Tarn with ease. This hike is not recommended in hot weather as there is little shade.

A hike that alternates between small villages, castles and churches, with the added bonus of a breathtaking view of Cordes-sur-Ciel. Best done in spring or, even better, in October, when the vines change colour. In summer, the shaded areas in the undergrowth are very welcome.

This is an easy hike, ideal for a half-day, which allows you to discover the beautifully restored houses of two small villages and takes you through hills and valleys, ending with a walk through part of the Gaillac vineyards.

A hike between vineyards and hills which enables you to discover a gently undulating landscape where pretty small villages and lovely dovecotes, enhanced by their careful restoration, nestle. The Château-Musée du Cayla which is located on the walk could also provide amateur historians and literature buffs with a splendid cultural stopover, following in the footsteps of Maurice and Eugénie de Guérin, whose correspondence is still famous.

Let's set off to explore a multifaceted environment from the small village of Saint-Beauzile. After passing through dense, wild undergrowth, where we take forgotten paths, the route becomes more open, allowing us to discover gently rolling countryside where vineyards and cereal crops coexist harmoniously. There is a little tarmac, but on very quiet roads.

Near Cordes-sur-Ciel, a small village awaits you to discover its history and its Merovingian necropolis. Along the paths and small roads, you can take part in an interactive treasure hunt. The safe and its secret await you.

Vineyards and fields stretch from one stream to the next, dotted with beautiful residences such as the Château-Musée du Cayla, dovecotes and pretty villages. This route guarantees a pleasant half-day out in the countryside.

A walk in the gently rolling countryside of Cahuzac-sur-Vère to discover two charming little churches and two castles, one of which houses a renowned gourmet restaurant. We are in the Gaillac region, and most of the route takes place among vineyards, small woods and cultivated fields.

This pleasant loop in the Cordais hills, between vineyards and woods, allows you to discover a unique geological feature (the rougiers) and beautiful views of the villages of Cordes and Tonnac. The hike was created by the Tarn department and marked by volunteers from the FFRandonnée.

A circular route on the Causse plateau leading from the small village of Souel to Cordes-sur-Ciel, through a hilly landscape alternating between vineyards, cultivated fields, meadows and small woods. A pretty lake, a few beautifully restored houses and a small chapel nestled in a valley dot this rural route, not to mention the numerous viewpoints over the town of Cordes, classified as a Grand Site de Midi-Pyrénées.

This loop allows you to visit the Chapelle Saint-Jean, an endearing place with a strong link to the history of Cordes-sur-Ciel. The tour ends in the tourist centre of the bastide town of Cordes for a well-deserved visit and break.

Cordes... a magnificent Albigensian fortified town, to be discovered from the rolling trails of the Causse. PLEASE NOTE: The millstone caves are on private property and access is now prohibited.

A short walk through rolling countryside covered with vineyards and meadows. Rural heritage, crosses and dovecotes throughout this route. A short stretch of very shady and quiet road. Yellow markings, not very visible in places.

This hike in the Vaour region, between Quercy and Albigeois, alternates between Celtic and Roman paths in a Causse landscape dotted with dolmens and numerous fountains. Several pretty villages: Saint-Michel-de-Vax, Roussayrolles and Peyralade have remarkable buildings. The Lagarde Castle Trail offers unspoilt landscapes and lush greenery. Running alongside rivers, crops and meadows, crossing streams and brooks, this enchanting trail will take you to the Vère-Grésigne leisure centre.

Starting from the small village of Mauriac, this short hike, accessible to all, takes you through valleys carpeted with vineyards and small hills offering views of the Gaillac plain and, on a clear day, the Montagne Noire and even the Pyrenees. A few beautifully restored dovecotes and some noble residences adorn the route.

For adventurers who love the wilderness. This route will take you across La Grésigne on either side of the D87. You will tread many barely visible paths, avoiding forest tracks and roads as much as possible. Bartas, sections with significant elevation changes and trails trodden by wild boars will delight hikers looking for a challenge and a good workout. .

A walk to discover the castles near Cordes. The Château de Cazelles was an advanced defence for Cordes. The Château de Livers dates from the 15th century and owes its charm to the Renaissance. The route only follows wide paths and trails.

The view of the bastide town of Castelnau-de-Montmiral can be seen right from the start. Downy oaks and Montpellier maples line the trail between vineyards and views of the Gaillac hillsides. The Gradille chapel is nestled in the woods of the same name.

Circuit around Cestayrols, a 12th-century fortified village, through the undergrowth and vine-covered hillsides.

A short, unpretentious walk, just to get some fresh air.This trail will take you through a landscape of valleys and small hills planted with vines.Along the way, you'll also find some lovely surprises in the form of small rural heritage sites dotted around the landscape, such as dovecotes and wash houses.

Starting from the small village of Fayssac, this easy hike takes place in gently rolling countryside where cultivated fields, meadows and vineyards share the landscape. On a clear day, the view stretches as far as the Montagne Noire and the Pyrenees. The route alternates between wide paths and small, mostly quiet tarmac roads, which do nothing to detract from the feeling of calm and tranquillity that prevails throughout.
