Park in the centre of the village, near the church: there are several parking spaces available.
No signposts
(S/E) Opposite the church, follow the road on the left (west). Immediately pass another road on the right and continue straight ahead on a slight downhill slope.
(1) Leave the road and take a wide grassy path on the right that climbs up a small valley between meadows and ploughed fields. Pass a path on the left and continue on the right, heading for the farm shed at the top of the hill. Pass between the shed and the Mas de Lacroux buildings to reach a small tarmac road. Turn right and continue to a crossroads.
GRP® Yellow and Red markings
(2) Turn left at a right angle, leaving the tarmac road, and enter the woods, following a wide, partially stony path that runs alongside a wire fence on your right. You will come to a wide fork in the path.
No markings
(3) Leave theGRP® and turn right. Walk along a large meadow on your right and continue to a fork in the path, which requires careful attention as the path to take is not immediately obvious. An old blue mark on a tree on the right can be used as a reference point.
(4) Turn left (south) onto a path that leads deeper into the woods, which become very dense. After a short section that can be very muddy after heavy rain, the path slopes to the left and narrows. Go around a sharp bend to the right and continue for about 100 metres to reach a three-way junction that is difficult to spot due to the overgrown vegetation (ruins on the left).
(5) Turn left (south) onto a very narrow track that winds its way through dense undergrowth, obscuring any view of the surroundings. Once at the fork, continue on the left and begin a fairly steep descent to reach a tarmac road (D8) just opposite a wash house (the path on the right at elevation 321 no longer exists).
(6) Follow the road to the left, leaving the road to Candèze on your left, and continue to the next junction. Turn right, then 50 metres further on, turn left onto a tarmac road which quickly gives way to a grassy path. Continue to the top of the hill.
Yellow and redGRP® markings
(7) At the crossroads, turn right onto theGRP® which runs along the hillside, offering beautiful views on the right with the hilltop village of Castelnau-de-Montmiral in the distance. Join a wide path.
(8) Turn right and follow the GRP®. As you pass, admire the magnificent stone building of Jouzelles and the hundred-year-old oak tree a hundred metres ahead.
No markings
At an isolated house, leave theGRP® trail on the right and continue straight ahead until you reach the crossroads.
(9) Turn left and continue downhill to the small bridge over the Ruisseau d'Escourou (a very modest stream).
(10) About twenty metres further on, leave the road and turn left onto a wide, partially grassy path. Stay on this path, which climbs up a small valley to a tarmac road.
(11) Take this road on the right and continue straight ahead until you reach the first houses of the village. Turn left and keep left to climb up to the church (S/E).
