Park at the southern foot of Cordes-sur-Ciel, in the Rue de l'Acampadou, closest to its junction with the Rue du Bouisset.
There are plenty of parking spaces lined up along the Rue de l'Acampadou.
This route takes in a section of the "Sentier du Patrimoine" and another of the "Sentier Bleu".
All are signposted in yellow except for the part in the centre of the bastide.
(S/E) Go down Rue du Bouisset towards Aurifat. At the end of the road, in the left-hand hairpin bend, look for the "Sentier du Patrimoine" sign, marked in yellow.
Turn left, follow Route de Saint-Jean and, further on, ignore Route La Loubaresse. You will come to a side road and the start of the Sentier Bleu opposite.
(1) Take the path lined with plum and elder trees. Continue slowly until you come to a path on the right.
Follow this path to visit the Chapelle Saint-Jean.
(2) Retrace your steps and turn right at the previous crossroads. Pass a wash-house and its well.
In front of the private entrance to Saint-Jean, veer left and continue along the blue path marked in yellow.
The path curves and rises slightly until it reaches a T-junction. Signs for the "Sentier du Patrimoine" and the "Sentier du Causse" face it.
(3) Turn left onto this wide track. Ignore the Sarmazes road and keep heading generally north. Come out onto a road.
(4) Take this road up to Cordes. At the junction with Rue de la Grésigne, D600, turn left and pass the bookshop-paper shop-tobac. In the small square, turn left at an angle towards Rue de l'Horloge.
(5) Head up Rue de l'Horloge. Its cobblestones guide you right up to the Porte de l'Horloge. The Grand-Rue de la Barbacane follows, taking you under the Porte du Vainqueur with its Barbacane Tower on the right.
Pass through the Porte de Rous to set foot on the Grand Rue Raymond VII.
In front of the Musée des Arts du Sucre et du Chocolat, climb the few steps to the right for a view over the valley and the Jardin des Paradis. With your back to the landscape and facing the square, turn right towards the narrower steps leading to Place Saint-Michel.
(6) With your back to the entrance to the Church of Saint-Michel de Cordes, return to the Grand Rue Raymond VII. Note the imposing Gothic façade of the Maison du Grand Veneur, listed as a historic monument since 1923. Turn right past the Escuelle des Chevaliers hostelry. Pass under the Porte des Ormeaux.
Immediately turn left into Rue Chaude, signposted "no entry".
Reach the Rue des Remparts. Turn left/right and follow the steps to Rue de l'Acampadou.
Note the grassy area with picnic table to the right of the steps.
At the road, turn right to get back to the starting point (S/E).
