Park around the church and town hall in Itzac.
The hike is virtually unmarked.
Bringing a map and a GPS device will be a great help.
(S/E) On Route d'Itzac, next to the church, turn right down towards the wash house. At the D8, turn right in front of the wash house. Follow this road very carefully for about 150 metres. Take the first small road uphill on the right, then turn left immediately afterwards to reach Boussières.
(1) At the T-junction, turn right. Pass Couirac and Fillet. Turn left onto the first farm track. The track continues further on as a dirt and gravel track and descends gently towards the Duèze stream.
(2) When you reach the stream, do not cross it. Continue straight ahead and follow it to elevation 259, then leave it to climb to the right. The path climbs steeply to elevation 348, passing a small path on the right.
(3) Cross the path. At the five-way crossroads, take the Route des Clouts on the right, which leads to the farm of the same name. The road passes two houses, branches off to the left and continues as a wide dirt track. At the next crossroads, turn right.
(4) After 50 metres, in front of Sigalou, continue to the left. At the next fork, turn right and continue to an intersection almost at the edge of the Mercadelle stream. Follow the path around the bend, walk along a meadow to reach the stream and wade across it.
(5) After the ford, the path veers to the right and climbs gently up the hillside. Turn right at the first intersection and continue to a four-way crossroads.
(6) Turn right onto the first almost flat path. At the next crossroads, take the path slightly to the left which leads to a fork.
(7) At the fork, turn left and then left again after 30 metres. Walk along a meadow on your left. At the entrance to the woods, take a sharp right turn onto a path that descends into a shady valley and leads to a tarmac road.
(8) At the road, turn left and at the next fork, take the right to reach the centre of Itzac and the church (S/E).
