A very pleasant walk: from the top of the hills, the view is superb, provided the sky is clear. The first part is winding and hilly until Cravant, but the return journey is on a flat, tarmac path along the Canal du Nivernais and the Yonne.

The southern loop, to be covered on the first day, is easy going except for its length, which is nearly 27 km. This route passes through numerous hills, beautiful forests and the lovely countryside surrounding the hills. Be careful not to get your feet caught in the strings!

After a moderate day's hiking, you are now in the most demanding part of the loop of domes, with magnificent views of the Puy de Côme, the Grand Knoll, the Petit Knoll and the Puy de Dôme. You will pass through beautiful forests of beech, conifer and hazel trees, a feast for the eyes!

Closed sections marked 2.3 km from the start (October 2025). The Ruta del Cares is undoubtedly the most beautiful route in the entire Picos de Europa mountain range, also known as Garganta Divina (Divine Gorge in Spanish). This path, carved into the rock on the mountainside, overlooks the Rio Cares for more than 10 kilometres. It will take you from Poncebos to Caìn through a breathtakingly beautiful gorge. N.B. The total elevation gain is overestimated: expect around 700 metres.

A magnificent stage that begins with a descent to the superb site of the Covadonga Lakes, before starting a pleasant climb to the Vegarredonda Refuge.

This is going to be a magnificent day; the route passes through rugged terrain with exceptional scenery. You will see herds of chamois, vultures and, with a bit of luck, bearded vultures. From the top of the Cuesta Cebolleda, if you turn around, you will have a magnificent view of Lake Ercina and the Cantabrian Sea.

A long stage that begins with a climb through a beech forest, then turns towards Posada de Valdeón to follow a gently sloping valley, before tackling the very difficult climbs of the Canal de Asotín, El Berón and the Canal de Congosto. Finally, you arrive at the magnificent site of Collado Jermoso, where the refuge is perched.

Most of this stage is downhill. However, contrary to what one might think, this does not make the stage easy. The descents are steep. Just like the passage through the Brecha de los Cazadores or the section linking the Jou de los Cabrones refuge to Campa del Trave with its rugged landscapes, or the dizzying Canal de Amuessa and its 950m descent that seems endless. A difficult stage, but one of spectacular beauty.

WARNING! Following the removal of the handrail on the descent from Horcados Rojos (point (7) on the section from the Collado Jermoso Refuge to the Vega Urriellu Refuge), this hike is not recommended for anyone without good climbing experience. According to Tomas, the warden at the Vega Urriellu Refuge whom we met on 05/08/2023, an alternative route is being considered to bypass this difficulty. However, pending a solution, (the stage in question has been removed from the guide). Please therefore take care not to embark on this journey unprepared A magnificent circular route in the heart of the Picos de Europa. Composed mainly of karst rock, the Picos de Europa offer an extraordinary landscape. Sharp peaks, chaotic rock formations, scree slopes, dizzying drops and deep chasms. You will see numerous herds of chamois, flocks of vultures (always in great numbers), a few bearded vultures and all manner of domestic animals grazing peacefully.

Set amongst forests and mountain pastures, this stage will take you to the Perafita Refuge, the perfect spot to rest.

At a height of 821 metres, Mont Beuvray offers a wide range of activities, including a visit to the archaeological site of the Bibracte oppidum, the Bibracte Museum dedicated to Gallic civilisation, and numerous walking opportunities such as the ramparts tour or long-distance hiking trails such as theGR®13orGR®131. And if, by chance, mist descends on the area at the end of your hike, the atmosphere it creates is sure to give you goose bumps.

A very beautiful hike that begins with the magnificent Ruta del Cares. You then take the very steep Trea gorge to reach the Vega de Ario, where the refuge is located.

This circular route is very representative of the Sologne region, with its forests covered in moss, heather and ferns, its paths that are sometimes wide and straight, sometimes winding, grassy or muddy, its ponds and its brick houses, all of which contribute to its charm.

A walk through the bocage landscape of the Nivernais region. Here, the hedges that border the meadows have been preserved, giving the surrounding countryside a certain charm. Throughout this circular route, you may see horses, donkeys and cattle grazing, the latter mainly of the Charolais breed.

Starting from the communal lake at La Ferté Beauharnais, this lovely circular route takes you through typical Sologne countryside. Featuring a superb path in its northern section, it links the D104 to the Château de la Noue.

This beautiful circular walk begins along the Canal de la Sauldre, with its locks, small bridges and weirs. It then enters the forest, along long paths lined with ponds, and ends with an almost complete tour of the Étang du Puits, via Cerdon beach, the pretty path that winds between the trees along a small disused railway line, the crossing of the Bois aux Moines and, finally, the path that runs alongside the Canal and the beach at Argent-sur-Sauldre.

A lovely circular route through the forests of Sologne, criss-crossed by streams feeding numerous ponds. This circular route goes around the Baillère Valley, through which the Tannerie flows before joining the Cosson, which you will cross twice.

A circular in the Orléans Forest along a pretty path that winds between the trees. You will discover a series of springs converted into fountains and end this walk at the Résistance crossroads, a place steeped in Second World War history. A monument has been erected there in memory of the resistance fighters who died for France.

This superb circular route runs along the right bank of the Loire for over six kilometres. Narrow paths, almost right up against the water’s edge, offer magnificent views of the wild river, its flora and fauna. The second part of this circular route follows paths through a wide variety of landscapes, including vast plains, woodland and forests. It ends at the banks of the Canal d’Orléans and the pretty Venelle des Lilas. Don’t forget your binoculars.

A largely shaded circular walk along the water’s edge. This walk follows the Rigole de Courpalet for nearly 5km before entering the Forest of Orléans and skirting the Étang du Gué l’Évêque. The Rigole de Courpalet, 32.8 km long, was dug to feed the Canal d’Orléans.

This circular will take you along the left bank of the Loire to Châteauneuf-sur-Loire. You will cross the castle grounds and its arboretum. The return to Jargeau is via the right bank. This circular route is known as thePR® des deux ponts (Two BridgesPR® ), modified to include access to the Loire Marine Museum and a stroll through the arboretum and the pretty Rhododendron Avenue.

Circular route, or almost a circular route, to be covered mostly along grassy paths. If you remain alert and quiet, you are almost certain to spot wildlife, which is very common in this area. Indeed, red deer, roe deer and wild boar have made this their territory.

A very pretty circular walk through the Petite Sauldre Valley and the vast pine forest of the Domaine de Landeroyne. What makes this circular walk special? It takes you across a ford just past the hamlet of Les Préchats. There’s no footbridge here, and no facilities to help you cross. You’ll need to take your shoes off.

La Ferté-Saint-Cyr has preserved its many communal paths, all of which are marked and mostly protected from motorised vehicles. This circular route takes you along a variety of paths, skirting meadows, woods and ponds, before entering the heart of the forest, an ideal place for wildlife watching. The unique feature of this circular route is that it crosses the Cosson river twice, first via a narrow bridge and then via the Gué du Moulin Lauray ford; as you can imagine, you will need to take off your shoes.
