Park on the esplanade beside the Sauldre Canal (see Practical Information).
(S/E) Start this circular loop by heading towards the bridge, cross the road and follow the left bank of the canal until you reach the Écluse des Jarriers lock.
(1) Turn right onto the grassy path marked CR25, which is also theGR®31. Pass the old canal, a few buildings in a place called Les Bois Ronds and a series of small ponds, ignoring all the side paths and a pond on the left.
(2) Reach the D923 road, cross it (take care) and continue along the path opposite, ignoring all side paths.
Pass a beautiful pond on your left, then a path on your left and another on your right, and continue to the next intersection.
(3) Follow the grassy path slightly sloping to the left marked CR33, white and red markings and a blue dot, ignoring all paths on the right and left. This path is bordered on the right by a ditch and ends opposite a pond.
(4) Turn right at the CR34 sign and pass the Le Chêne farm. At the farm, leave the main path and turn diagonally to the right to follow the path that runs to the left of a hedge, a grassy and little-used path marked CR34. This path runs parallel to the main path, which is private.
Continue, leaving a path on your left, until you reach the D55 road.
(5) Turn left and follow the road, marked White Red, leaving the side paths and Bois Follet on your left and theGR®31/ VC14 on your right, then reach an intersection.
(6) Take the small road marked VC2 on the left, passing alongside the Linerie farm. A little further on, leave a path on the left and cross the courtyard of the Gouarie farm. Continue until you reach an intersection at La Robinerie.
(7) Leave the CR 7 on your left, continue straight ahead on the VC 2, pass a small pond and continue until you reach a small road.
(8) Follow the road marked VC2, La Bergerie, opposite, pass a small road on the right, and negotiate a sharp left turn. Follow CR3, La Bergerie, then pass La Bergerie (lodge) on the right and continue straight ahead along a white path with a grassy strip in the middle.
Pass La Darnoire and continue to an intersection.
(9) Turn right towards Camping des Alicourts, continue past La Fragonière farm on your right, then Les Marchais, and continue straight ahead along the grassy path. Walk past the corrugated iron barracks located at the edge of a pond. You will reach an intersection.
(10) Turn left and follow the path marked CR71 towards Brinon-sur-Sauldre. This path is poorly maintained but does not present any particular difficulties. Ignore all minor paths, join the D923 and cross it (take care).
(11) Follow the road opposite, begin a slight descent alongside a building and a series of small ponds, and reach the left bank of the Canal de la Sauldre.
(12) Follow the left bank of the canal. Pass under a bridge. Pass the Écluse des Bouffards lock and continue along the canal to reach the Écluse du Cul d'Enfer lock.
(13) Pass a footbridge over the canal on your right and continue straight ahead to reach the Bas Jarriers lock.
(1) Continue until you reach the D55 road, cross it and head for the car park (S/E).
