This short hike is ideal for families and presents no difficulty.

A bucolic walk that combines wooded and aquatic environments.
The six-pond circuit from Dieuze
The Saulnois region is often described as the “Land of Salt and Ponds”. This description is well-deserved, and this route features nearly six ponds. Apart from the Étang des Essarts, which has been developed, the others are managed by the Lorraine Nature Conservancy and are completely unspoilt. Here you’ll discover a rich variety of wildlife, vegetation and colours that bear witness to a protected environment. The picnic area by the side of the main road is halfway along the route and can prove very useful.

The Potos Route in Saint-Quirin
The idea was to go for a walk with friends after two missed meet-ups due to the rain! So I decided to create a route for the occasion, starting from the place where I grew up.
Circular around Lettenbach
Hilly route starting from the hamlet of Lettenbach, taking the Circulaire des Quatre Roches and the Circulaire du Vieux Château. Don't miss a visit to the Verriers Church in the hamlet, which houses the crystal rose (Route des 7 Roses, remarkable chapels and churches around Saint Quirin): Renaissance façade, bulbous bell tower topped with a golden cockerel and covered, like the roof, with larch and spruce shingles. Then explore the archaeological site of Croix Guillaume (habitats, necropolis and quarries).
Val-et-Châtillon loop
An easy and very quiet hike, mostly through the woods. A few viewpoints over the surrounding forests and the sandstone rocks shaped by erosion: Roche des Druides, Roches du Corbet and Roches d'Achiffet.
Circular route of the Grand and Petit Rougimont rocks and Trois Pierres
I had wanted to hike in this mountain range for a long time, and now I've done it! There were signs prohibiting passage on a previous route, but I didn't really know where to find them, so I set off on an adventure and ended up finding an "authorised passage".
So, under a bright sun, I was able to access these iconic red sandstone rocks and enjoy the exceptional 360° view from the Grand Rougimont viewpoint over the Donon and the Lorraine plateau.
For those who appreciate the iconic natural curiosities of the Northern Vosges, don't hesitate to visit the Trois Pierres and Petit Rougimont: they are well worth the detour in a magnificent forest setting!
St-Léon - Abreschviller
A walk in the Vosges foothills, under the trees and with a beautiful view of Abreschviller.
I wanted to revisit a walk I used to do regularly with my parents when I was a teenager. Unfortunately, the storm of 1999 took its toll and the path has been completely washed away in places. The Club Vosgien has redefined a new route from Saint-Léon. I preferred to go back 45 years and offer you my retro walk along the original path.
Discover unusual sites starting from Walscheid
Walscheid, a picturesque village at the gateway to the Vosges, is well worth a visit. There are many hiking trails, including this one, which takes in a wealth of attractions such as the Gallo-Roman cemetery, the ruins of Heidenschloss, the Durrenberg promontory and the Saint Léon cave.
Long tour via Calice, Brechpunkt and Bloecherplatz to Grand Soldat
A little-used circular path in the forest, taking in the rocks, rocky outcrops and viewpoints surrounding the hamlet of Grand Soldat.
Le Canceley, Le Grand Rommelstein and Le Rocher du Calice
A beautiful hike through the forest with some slightly wild passages and beautiful views of Rocher du Canceley and Grand Rommelstein.
The Mont des Saints route
This route mainly follows paths through fields and, as you walk, reveals magnificent panoramic views of the Saulnois region. Its highlight is the discovery of Mont des Saints, a site undergoing transformation where a series of monumental statues is gradually being erected. Launched in 2023, this ambitious project is led by sculptor Michel Dardaine, whose expertise is bringing the first Lorraine figures to life. The project is a long-term undertaking that will span several decades, offering visitors the pleasure of seeing the site evolve over the years. When you reach the summit, where the route passes, take the time to enjoy an exceptional 360° view, opening onto vast, luminous and particularly photogenic landscapes.
From the Col de Roule Bacon to Grand Rougimont
A beautiful hike through the Vosges forests, on the border of three departments (Bas-Rhin, Moselle and Meurthe-et-Moselle). Pass along the Roman road and the former border from 1871 to 1918, then on to Grand Rougimont (622m), the highest point in Meurthe-et-Moselle. Descend to the ruins of Moises and return along the Saussenrupt stream via the Trou Marmot.
The tour of Roc du Taurupt via Haut de Chaumont
A hike at the foot of the highest point in the Meurthe-et-Moselle department, in a mainly forest setting, far from the crowds and the beaten track. A moving visit to the graves of German soldiers from the First World War.
The Donon Forts
A hike along the Donon fortified positions trail. From September 1914, the Vosges front stabilised on the ridges and the Donon became a defensive position of prime importance. In 1915, the Germans embarked on a colossal construction project.
