Start at the car park of Bataville church.
(S/E) Walk along the left side of the church and turn left to enter the forest at the corner of the clearing. At a three-way junction, turn right and follow the path south-west through the forest (ignore the paths on the left). Leave the forest and continue along the edge.
(1) At the crossroads, continue to the right towards "Ecluse n°7". Pass a cross and continue straight ahead to the lock.
(2) Turn left and follow the canal along a grassy path, without crossing the lock.
(3) When you reach an old lock, take the old footbridge on the right to cross the old small canal. At the bottom of this footbridge, climb the small path opposite and cross the new, large canal via a metal footbridge.
(4) Immediately after descending this footbridge, turn right twice to pass underneath. Then follow the grassy path to the northeast that starts in the middle of the ponds. You will see the large lock ahead of you.
(5) When you reach the large lock, climb the embankment via the tarmac road on the right, then turn left towards the lock (signs explaining how the lock works). Return via the same road.
(5) When you return from the lock, turn right to cross the canal. Immediately after, take the grassy path on the left that leads into the forest. Follow this path, which runs parallel to the old small canal. At the end, return between the two footbridges you crossed earlier and cross the one on the right.
(3) Then turn right onto a beautiful grassy lane between a pond on your left and the old small canal on your right.
(6) When you reach the old lock building, turn left and enter the forest. From this point, the path winds along the banks of the Étang de Réchicourt, following the yellow rectangle markings.
(7) At the crossroads, take the first path on the left and continue around the pond, still following the yellow rectangle markings.
(1) At the crossroads, turn right to return to the starting point via the same route as on the way there (S/E).
