Access: On the D955 towards Metz, shortly after the junction for Diane Capelle and before crossing the Canal des Houillères bridge, turn left and park in the small lay-by that can accommodate five to six cars.
(S/E) Head south along the canal on theGR®5.
(1) Climb up the earth dam on your left, from where you can see the Petit Étang on your left and the Étang de Gondrexange on your right, above the canal.
(2) Cross the Marne-Rhine Canal via the footbridge, then turn right and continue along the canal. Follow the canal either along the cycle path or on the left-hand side on a small earth embankment protecting the canal from rising water. Beautiful view of the Cornée de Réchicourt.
(3) Pass the canal pumping station at the Gondrexange Pond and continue along the canal.
(4) Continue along the canal to reach the large lock at Réchicourt.
(5) Descend to the lower level of the canal via the small path on the right and cross the canal.
(6) Take the path opposite and then turn immediately right, following the old lock.
(7) Continue, keeping slightly to the left, to reach the forest road (RF).
(8) Turn left to avoid the tarmac road and continue to the next junction.
(9) Turn right and continue straight on to the RD91.
(10) Continue left on the RD91. Very beautiful passage between the Rohrweiher and the Étang de Gondrexange.
(11) Turn right onto Tranchée des Beaux Chênes and continue straight ahead.
(12) At the crossroads, turn left onto Tranchée des Hautes Maisons.
(13): Turn right onto Tranchée du Murot.
(14) 100 metres before the RD955, take the path on the right, which runs along the edge of the woods for about 500 metres. The path is not always very visible and is not well cleared.
(15) At the Maison Forestière de l'Étang, turn left and join the RD955. Turn right to reach the finish (S/E) (If there are only a few of you, walk on the left-hand side of the road and watch out for traffic).
