Abingdon to Steventon following some of the old Berkshire and Wiltshire canal. Start along the Ock valley path through Abingdon and then head west out into flat fields. Some good paths to start with however some of the paths in the fields as you approach Steventon are not well maintained. The final fields into Steventon at Hill Farm often contain cattle. I would generally advise this as a dry weather walk. The footpath out of Abingdon suburbs is poor and I have adjusted the route to follow roads and tracks. After passing under the railway on the ranch to Steventon the OS footpaths are not reliable; at one point the path was ploughed and planted with wheat so I followed the field edge for some time. The X2 bus runs between Abingdon and Steventon 7 days a week so can be used to close the loop.

6 miles almost entirely off road and flat walk from Steventon to Abingdon with a return journey on X2 bus (you can park in Steventon Village Hall). If you walk on a Sunday morning, you can have a coffee and cake at Sutton Courtenay weirs. On a hot day there is plenty of opportunity for a dog to swim in the Thames. As you pass behind Sutton Courtenay there are a few footpath options; however, whatever route you take you'll end up close to the Church, and the George or Sawan pubs before headding to Sutton Courtenay Weirs. Then follow the Thames Path to Abingdon.

The Ridgeway the other way. The National Trail from NE to SW. The fifth Stage is probably the most remote section of The Ridgeway, with some wonderful views and prehistoric monuments to enjoy.

This circular walk goes through three SSSIs from urban Oxford. Starting from urban Cowley, walk up to the top of Shotover country park SSSI (Site of Special Scientific Interest) for nature and views to the South West, then through Rock Edge SSSI, for Upper Jurassic limestone, and then through Lye Valley SSSI to experience nationally rare calcareous fen habitat from the last ice age.

This circular walk goes from Lambourn to the Ridgeway past Ashdown House, along the Ridgeway past the ancient monuments of Wayland's Smithy and Uffington Castle, and returns to Lambourn along the Lambourn Valley Way. The route "The Lambourn Valley Way, from Lambourn to Newbury (with shorter options)" describes the continuation of this walk to Newbury.

A lovely walk with much variety and interest : wild flower meadow, Watts Bank Nature Reserve, superb views of the Eastbury Downs and Lambourn nestled in the Lambourn Valley, the pretty little village of Eastbury, which has many buildings of historic interest and the Lambourn River, a seasonal chalk stream. This walk goes up (and down) several hills and can be slippery underfoot after rain.

Start the walk at the Market Square, note the old Market Cross and the site of the Lambourn Tanker Crash of 1953, and enjoy the river and countryside around Lambourn.

Although just outside the valley, this walk gives access to very different countryside, with a number of features of interest, some lovely views and snowdrops and bluebells at the right time of year. The walk includes a number of steepish hills.
