Start : Saints Peter & Paul Church, Wantage. (OX12 8AQ)
(S) From Saints Peter & Paul Church in Wantage, go (South-West) along Priory Road as far as Portway (B4507).
(1) The path is on the other side through the bushes to lead away from the houses, crossing Letcombe Brook on a footbridge and the fields to reach Letcombe Regis by Manor Field Road.
(2) Turn left onto Court Hill Road to go South East up to Manor Road (A338). Go straight across past Furzewick Down to pick up the trail at Pewit Farm.
(3) Turn right and go past White House Farm (now heading West) to cross Manor Road (A338) again.
(4) Turn right then left to go past the entrance to Angeldown Farm and follow the track along the Downland Villages Riding Route past Segsbury (or Letcombe) Castle fort. Ignore all the paths and tracks leading off left and right but follow the signs for The Ridgeway straight ahead, crossing Gramp's Hill Road all the way to Sparsholt Firs car park on the B4001.
(5) Cross straight over the road (following the sign Sparsholt 2) and in about 50m bear left up the hill, passing Hill Barn and The Ridgeway Water Fountain, to drop more steeply down the other side to a track crossing point.
(6) Keep straight on to reach Kingstonhill Barn on Blowingstone Hill Road. Again, cross straight over and continue up Rams Hill (without getting to the top, where there are the remains of a neolithic fort or enclosure) then on to the recommended detour to the right to the White Horse Hill (indicated off the trail by a National Trust sign next to a wooden stile) but come back to the trail on the other side of the hill (another National Trust sign and stile) whilst dropping down the crossing point with the Lambourne Valley Way, with an information board and indications to Wayland's Smithy.
(7) Continue straight ahead along the trail, gradually bearing left to head in a South-Westerly direction.
(8) Across D'Arcy Dalton Way just past the Wayland's Smithy, to reach the Ashbury Hill car park on the B4000.
(9) Keep straight on to cross B4000 then again at Idstone Hill Road at the Ridgeway Farm and straight on again to cross a track near Helen Browning's Flying Pig. Carry on along the trail, past a T-junction and a crossing at Toothy Barn.
(10) Then, onto a tarmacked road that comes from the right, bear left along this road to reach an Indian restaurant, The Burjat the crossroads at Foxhill.
(11) Our route continues straight ahead to cross the M4, past a T-junction to reach the B4192.
(12) Turn left (sign Aldbourne) to walk on the right-hand side of the road for about 100m to a metal gate on the right. Go through the gate and follow the trail up Liddington Clump (or Hill) where there are the remains of Liddington Castle fort.
(13) The route bears left across the hill to head South past Whitefield Hill and Round Hill Downs to cross another track and finally reach the car park on Copse Drove.
(14) Continue straight across the road.
(15) Bear right before reaching Chase Woods Farm.
(16) Follow the indicated trail turning right at another crossing of tracks next to a derelict brick building. Go gently downhill along Old Chase Road but ignore the sign for The Ridgeway off to the left as we leave the trail to head down to a farm building and some new homes.
(17) At the junction with Bytham Road, turn right and walk carefully along this local road to the junction with Copse Drove. Turn left to go under the A346 to go along Marlborough Road into Ogbourne St George. (E)
