This cross-border route follows the Sambre and rural paths in France and Belgium, allowing you to discover the magnificent Solre-sur-Sambre Castle. Stroll in peace and quiet and observe the landscapes and biodiversity.

Starting from the dinosaur car park in Merbes-le-Château, the walk offers a circular route through the Upper Sambre Valley, passing by the first two locks on the Belgian side and through the countryside overlooking the Hantes Valley.The route follows two pretty little sections of the tram line that once linked Binche to Montignies-Saint-Christophe.The architectural highlight of the route is the magnificent Château de Solre-sur-Sambre.

Set off on a 44 km bike ride to discover the varied landscapes of the Sambre Avesnois. This circuit takes you from Boussois to the superb site of Watissart, crosses Jeumont and crosses the Belgian border. You will then follow the Salmagne aerodrome before enjoying the peaceful calm of the towpath. An ideal getaway combining nature, industrial heritage and the pleasure of cycling.

Start this loop at the Roman bridge in Montignies-Saint-Christophe. This circuit will take you through the countryside and woods, as well as past some characterful buildings between Montignies-Saint-Christophe and Solre-sur-Sambre. Throughout this loop, you will enjoy exploring all types of terrain and appreciating the rural character of this region.

Set off to explore the woods and traces of quarrying activity in the valley and play at crossing the border in the footsteps of customs officers and smugglers.

A challenging hike combining heritage, nature and history, the 66 km cross-border trail is for you. Pass from France to Belgium, then from nature to history, in just a few pedal strokes.

Take a stroll along the Sambre, passing by the two nautical stops at Boussois and Marpent, as well as Fort Boussois. The latter belongs to the military and is inaccessible, but you can admire its silhouette through the trees that surround it.

The route takes you on a journey of discovery to five kiosks and three water mills.You will also take the old railway line, which has been converted into a greenway. This hilly route is suitable for experienced cycle tourists.

If the need for silence, tranquillity, and rolling pastoral landscapes takes hold of you, the Bois de Fagne circuit will fulfil your needs and leave you feeling rested and in the holiday spirit... It’s hard to believe you’re so far north, especially if the sun is out.

A walk for those nostalgic for the little mountains, with their valleys, plateaus and streams spanned by old stone bridges. A walk for lovers of calm and nature. And as a gift for children, lots of animals: hens, roosters, ducks, buzzards, goats, sheep and, with a little patience, squirrels and roe deer in the woods... A visit to the Tower will bring a hint of culture.

Cycle route connecting EuroVelo 3 to the Ravel in Belgium

Around Thuin, a charming little fortified town, this short hike partly follows the Ravel 3 and Ravel line 109/2, passing through typical streets on the ramparts of Thuin and the magnificent Grand Bon Dieu woods.

This cycling route takes you to the main sites of the siege of Maubeuge, which took place from 27 August to 8 September 1914. Although the siege immobilised tens of thousands of German soldiers for several days, preventing them from fighting in the Battle of the Marne, it ended in a serious French defeat, with more than 40,000 prisoners, representing a tenth of all French prisoners of war during the Great War.

This beautiful circular loop allows you to discover the tranquillity of the countryside and forest in the triangle formed by the communes of Beaumont-Sivry-Rance and Solre-le-Château, as well as the Château de Lanthier, a magnificent white spot in its forest setting.

The route takes you to four kiosks and four water mills. You will also take the old railway line, which has been converted into a greenway. This hilly route is suitable for experienced cycle tourists, while the shorter version is accessible to families.

The second stage of your journey will take you on a hike through the bocage countryside to discover master glassmakers, breweries and cheese producers. Take your time to visit and plan your stay over two days.

Long hike starting from Sautin in the municipality of Sivry-Rance, through the Bois de Bruyère towards Lac du Val Joly, in the French municipality of Eppe-Sauvage, partly following the Transylvestre andGR®®125Tour de l'Entre-Sambre-et-Meuse trails. Wooded and rural, the route alternates between forest trails, country lanes and local roads.

This route allows you to discover the kiosks, typical elements of the built heritage of the Avesnois region.

The Hyon waterfall, the Trouille river, quiet streets, paths, wooded and country lanes leading up to Bois là Haut enhance this 5 km walk, which is slightly steep in places. Information boards provide details about the history of the waterfall site.
