Park in the car park at Place du Général de Gaulle in Cousolre.
(S/E) Follow the RD936 towards Bousignies-sur-Roc (east). Pass the former French customs office. At the bend, turn left into Rue Jules Montay (RD80). Pass the cemetery.
(1) At the crossroads, leave the RD80 and continue straight on towards Reugnies. After 100 metres, turn right onto the dirt track (view of the Hante valley, Beaumont (Belgium) and the Tour de la Salamandre). Further on, at the farm buildings, turn left down into the valley between woods and pastures and head for the hamlet of Reugnies, with its large Avesnois farms.
(2) Take the street on the left. Cross the Hante on an old stone bridge, Pont Couroux. Go up the stony path that passes in front of an old sawmill, crosses a wood and, at its exit, makes a first turn to the right. View of the valley.
(3) Leave the path on your right that descends towards the Fondrieux farm and continue left along the path that follows the edge of the plateau.
(4) Descend the path on the right. At the edge, turn left to enter the Bois de la Petite Comagne. Stay on the path. Follow the Ruisseau du Fond des Gouttes stream, which joins the bottom of the valley and the Hante, which has its source in Belgium.
(5) At the bottom, leave the path on your left that leads to the Notre-Dame de Comagne Chapel and take the path on your right at the edge of the woods, parallel to the Hante. Cross the river again via the Pont du Bois, an old weir.
(6) Turn left. At the next intersection, turn left again and, 50 metres further on, turn right and climb between woods and pastures. The grassy sunken path makes a short incursion into Belgium.
(7) At the crossroads, turn right. Follow the Chemin des Larrons. This path runs along the border between Belgium and France, evoking the period when smuggling flourished between the two countries. After 1,400 metres, the path crosses the RD936 ( take care ); on your left is the old customs post. Continue straight ahead on a small tarmac road (viewpoint on the left).
(8) Opposite the isolated house, turn right onto a narrow path between the hedges for about 200 metres, then turn left onto Chemin de la Haie des Saules.
(9) First turn left then right onto the tarmac road and continue along the path that leads to the Thure valley. Lined with pollarded trees, the path then runs alongside the Bois de Waremmes and opens out into a clearing.
(10) Turn right along the hedge and, after 50 metres, turn left onto the path through the undergrowth. Once out of the woods, cross the Champ des Poules plateau opposite, then the Sainte-Aldegonde spring stream. Join the RD936.
(11) Follow the road to the left ( take care ) and, at the junction with the RD80, turn left into Rue Croix Barquet to return to the kiosk and the car park where you started (S/E).
