Description of the walk

Car park at the Town Hall in Cousolre.

(S/R) Opposite the town hall, turn left onto the A-road for about 50 metres, then, before the chapel, turn left into Rue Saint-Roch. Continue straight on to the Chapelle Saint-Roch and turn right onto the Chemin de Bousignies-sur-Roc. This then becomes the Chemin de Cousolre. This will take you to the D80 at a place called Gérard Croix.

(1) Continue straight on along the departmental road and keep to it by turning right at the three-way junction.

(2) Turn right onto Rue du Pont-Neuf, heading towards the centre of the village of Bousignies-sur-Roc. Cross two bridges. Just after the second one, continue right onto Rue du Pont-Neuf and carry on along Rue de la Mairie.

(3) At the Y-junction, turn left onto the Grand Place and go straight on.

(4) Turn right onto Rue de Sartiau and continue in the same direction.

(5) Turn right onto Chemin de Sous le Bois.

(6) At the T-junction, turn right and, at the next crossroads, turn left onto the D80 towards the hamlet of Comagne. Then take the first road on the right.

(7) When you reach the oratory, carry straight on. Pass through the hamlet of Ville de Gand. Further on, ignore a turn-off on the right.

(8) About 50 metres further on, turn left onto Chemin du Bois and continue along the edge of the woods.

(9) At the 90° bend, continue along the forest track opposite and slightly to the left.

(10) In the woods, keep right and continue straight on.

(11) Just before the Chapelle du Fond des Gouttes, turn right onto the forest track and head towards a crossroads at the edge of the woods.

(12) Turn left onto Chemin du Bois. Cross the bridge over the Hantes. At the entrance to the hamlet of Reugnies, take a sharp left, then left again onto the path from Beaumont to Reugnies. Keep right at the next fork. Cross the French-Belgian border.

(13) At the four-way junction, turn right onto Chemin des Larrons. Continue straight on along the border and pass a four-way junction.

(14) Turn right onto the Chemin de Leugnies, cross the border again, then take the first path on the left, the Chemin de Bérelles to Leugnies. At the T-junction, turn left onto the Chemin de Grandieux to Marsignies and immediately right, continuing along the Chemin de Bérelles to Leugnies. Go straight on and ignore the first path on the right (not shown on the map).

(15) Turn right before Chemin de Marsignies and, shortly after, at the Y-junction, turn left onto Chemin du Champ des Poules. Ignore the first path on the right and carry straight on, heading north-north-east, to reach Rue de Landelies (D936).

(16) Turn left until you reach the A-road, which you follow to the left towards Cousolre Town Hall and the start car park (S/E).

A brilliant horse ride. I’ve done it twice. Once in the opposite direction and the second time the right way round.
