Loop between Ville-sur-Jarnioux and Jarnioux

The Green Beaujolais

This hike allows you to discover the upper Beaujolais region. The route is varied, passing through vineyards around the village and woods. It leads to the Rontécolon orientation table, the highest point of the route, and passes through the Col de la Sibérie, where there is a memorial to the martyrs of the Resistance.
Loop starting from Joux

I recommend this hike when nature is waking up in mid-April, to enjoy the green meadows and bright yellow dandelions. There are unobstructed views over much of the route. The ridge offers beautiful views of the Loire and Rhône departments. Picnics by the pond are very enjoyable and peaceful. The return trail near the river (Turdine) is very wild and quiet.

Around Juliénas in Beaujolais

The Cimes circuit in Odenas

This hike follows the Rouge d'Odenas trail. Through the vineyards, it leads to Mont Brouilly and its chapel overlooking the Saône valley, offering a beautiful panorama of the Beaujolais mountains, the Bresse, the Dombes and the Monts d'Or. The second climb leads to the Beaujolais moors and offers beautiful views of the green Beaujolais region and, on clear days, the Alps.
Forests and moors of the Haut Beaujolais

A beautiful, fairly wild loop starting from the charming village of Saint-Cyr-le-Chatoux, on a pass between Villefranche-sur-Saône and the Azergues valley.
The trails are mainly in the forest with plenty of shade. A complete change of scenery.

In the Land of Golden Stones

A hike that follows paths and little-used roads through the Pierres Dorées region in the Beaujolais area near Lyon. Between vineyards and meadows, this route takes you to charming villages, castles, wash houses, mission crosses and more. An ideal walk in spring, autumn (when the vineyards are ablaze with colour) and winter.
Place aux Filles - Sainte-Marie

This is a lovely walk through woods and vineyards with some beautiful views. What's more, if you do this walk at the right time of day and in the right season, you may encounter a number of wild animals.
The Brou departmental forest

This is a large loop offering several views of the Lyon area and, on a clear day, even Mont Blanc and the Alps. You will also discover the Beaujolais des Pierres Dorées (Oingt, Le Bois d'Oingt, Moirée, etc.) and part of the Tarare Mountains. No major difficulties to expect, the route passes along forest tracks, trails and a small section of tarmac (D629, very little traffic).
The Mont des Salles loop starting from Les Sauvages

This circuit with pleasant trails allows us to admire views of Amplepuis and its surroundings, the Château de Rochefort and splendid views of the Monts du Lyonnais, Tarare and its surroundings. Not to be missed.
Following work to install wind turbines, the French Hiking Federation has significantly modified the route at point (8) to divert theGR®7. I have redrawn the route as indicated by the FFR, so please follow this modification to complete the circuit.
Loop of Saint-Étienne-la-Varenne via Sainte-Marie

Climb up to the plateau of the Sainte-Marie farm, starting from the centre of the village of Saint-Étienne-la-Varenne and passing through the Trou du Loup. The hike returns to the starting point through the vineyards.
Les Pierres Dorées via Ville-sur-Jarnioux and Saint-Clair

This loop takes the Chemin du Tacot and returns via a pretty ridge sheltered by old box trees.
Crêt Courrier and Rebaisselet Stream

The main attraction of this hike is the long path that follows the Ruisseau de Rebaisselet stream for 5 km. The first part climbs through vineyards and small woods, then the path plunges into the Ruisseau de Rebaisselet valley. Yves Duteil's song will come to mind and stay with you, as there are many small wooden bridges to cross from one bank to the other. This is a little-used route with the option of extending it to the Col du Joncin.

The balconies of Perréon

This hike will take you to the heights of the Beaujolais region, where you can admire the vineyards, the Saône valley and, in the distance, the Alps, weather permitting. It alternates between vineyards and forests, following the GR®76 for a while. The signposting is varied, so it is not described here.
Loop around Grandris

This loop will take you over hill and dale around Grandris. Don't miss: The memorial to the woodcutters who lost their lives in the storm of 1999 near the hospital and, a little further on, when you reach the calvary, you can admire the whole valley and the village before setting off on a series of picturesque little paths.
Circuit le Sallerin / le Sovarin de la commune de Blacé
Surplombant la vallée de la Saône, le sentier traverse les vignes du Beaujolais et passe par le bas du vallon de Rochefolle pour rejoindre l'acrobranche de Blacé, en traversant le ruisseau le Sallerin / le Sovarin et traverse une forêt de feuillus et de résineux. Une pause à la Chapelle de Saint-Bonnet révélera la beauté du panorama sur le Val de Saône et le Beaujolais.
La Croix du Villard and Col de la Cambuse from Meaux-la-Montagne

This loop starts in the village of Meaux-la-Montagne and follows roads and paths that take you to the peaks of La Nuizière via the Col de la Cambuse, the Croix du Villard and the Croix de la Nuizière, through fields and pine forests.
Loop in the Foupeysson forest at the foot of Mont Pinay

A short hike with no significant elevation gain or difficulty. Varied landscapes of the Beaujolais Vert, often in the woods but also in open areas with views of the surrounding countryside.
Note: a large part of the route, from Mont Pinay to Les Petites Fayes, is on tarmac, but these are small roads with very little traffic.
Loop above La Nuizière starting from Le Chollet

This short loop will take you to the heights of La Nuizière, passing isolated farms (Bert, Le Chollet, Giraud) and crosses (Nuizière, Aliziers and Bert), between dirt tracks and small country roads.
