Park at the bottom of the hamlet of Le Châtoux.
(S/E) Walk back up through the hamlet towards the departmental road.
(1) Cross the departmental road and take the stony path opposite that goes uphill (follow theGR®76, red and white markings). At the fork immediately ahead, continue straight ahead and ignore the path on the left. At the T-junction, turn left.
(2) When you reach the Fontaine des Ânes (small stone basin filled with water), continue straight ahead on theGR®76towards Briberat. Climb and ignore two paths on the right. Continue climbing, steeper now, and ignore the paths on the left. You will arrive at the orientation table (table, benches).
(3) Continue on theGR®, north-northeast, to Briberat.
(4) At the Briberat sign, continue north and begin a long descent. Stay on theGR® and ignore the paths on the left.
(5) At the Bois Chal sign, turn left towards Chambost-Allière. At the intersection (elevation 773), turn right (west-northwest) towards Bois Chapelin. At the next intersection (elevation 742), continue straight ahead. Descend, ignoring the paths on either side.
(6) At Bois Chapelin, turn left onto a long, wide forest path towards Bois Magnin.
(7) Pass by the fountain and stay on this red and yellow marked path, ignoring the side roads. Cross the hamlet of La Cantinière and you will come to a crossroads.
(8) Cross the D116 and first turn left then right to take the small road below that descends towards La Bonnaire (red and yellow markings).
(9) At the end of the tarmac road, pass between the farm buildings and continue along a path. At the fork shortly after the farm, turn left (east-north-east). Climb up to the Col du Joncin (car park, tables).
(10) Cross a small road and follow the path that descends towards Le Châtoux, marked in yellow. Stay below the D116, then join it and follow it to the right until you reach the crossroads at the top of the hamlet of Le Châtoux.
(1) Take the small road on the right and descend to the car park (S/E).
