(S/E) Leave the cemetery car park by taking the street on the left. Cross the D44 and continue on the street opposite. Go to the end of the street.
(1) Just after the statue of the Virgin Mary, you will see three paths in front of you. Take the middle one. You will pass a basketball court. Continue straight ahead.
(2) At the intersection, take the marked path that descends in front of you towards Le Colombier (ignore the path that climbs to the right). You will descend onto a pleasant forest path. Continue straight ahead. After about one kilometre, you will see the edge of the forest on your left and below it the Côte farm, where goats graze from time to time. Continue straight ahead, ignoring the paths that descend to the left.
(3) The path arrives at a sort of open pass. Continue straight ahead, ignoring the path that climbs up to the right. The path descends gently along meadows and leads you to the hamlet of Sandrin.
(4) In the hamlet, take the road that descends to the left. You will pass a beautiful house with a swimming pool and continue on the road that descends to the Colombier farm.
(5) At the farm, take the road that descends above it, to the right. The road turns into a dirt track that veers left. Follow it to the next intersection.
(6) At the crossroads, turn right and then downhill to the left onto the marked path. The path descends rapidly and leads you to the edge of a meadow above the Grand Vernay.
(7) When you reach the road, turn right and follow it to a sort of pass at an elevation of 530 metres.
(8) Leave the road and take the steep path up to the right into the forest. Continue climbing, staying on the marked path. Pass the pass in the pine forest and continue towards Fontaine des Ânes.
(9) Take the very stony path that climbs steeply to the right through wild vegetation. Stay on this path, ignoring those that descend to the left or climb to the right.
(10) At Fontaine des Ânes, take the path that climbs to the right, along the meadow. Beautiful views of the Azergues.
(11) There are picnic tables in the shade with a beautiful view. Continue straight ahead. The path enters the forest again.
(12) The path, markedGR®, becomes a steep, very stony trail. Keep going straight up! When you reach the plateau, continue. You will find yourself in a beautiful moorland with superb views of the Saône valley, the Dombes and, weather permitting, Mont Blanc (remains of an orientation table with picnic tables on your right, towards altitude 870).
Continue along the path downhill until you reach a crossroads with a dirt track suitable for vehicles
(13). At the crossroads, continue straight ahead, ignoring the paths that branch off to the left and right. At the next crossroads, continue straight ahead again, ignoring the path that branches off to the left. The path will take you back to the sports field and the statue of the Virgin Mary.
(1) Follow the same route back to the cemetery car park (S/E).
