Departure from the centre of Chiroubles. Parking at Place de la Poste.
(S/E) With your back to the car park, follow Rue de la Forge to the left, then left again onto Rue de la Bascule towards Avenas. At the village exit, at the crossroads, follow the signs for Col de Durbize, turning right onto the quieter D86.
(1) At the third intersection, at the junction with Route du Bois Neuf, below the pass, leave the road. Take a small path opposite that branches off to the left parallel to the road. It is not very well maintained and has some brambles. At the corner of the vineyard, continue to the right.
(2) The path curves to the left; ignore the turn-off on the right and continue under the road.
If you prefer, you can stay on the tarmac road until you reach the pass and turn left just before you get there.
(3) When the path rejoins the tarmac road, follow it for a few dozen metres then turn left towards the Saint-Roch Chapel.
(4) This small chapel is notable for its glazed tile bell tower. Continue downhill to the hamlet of Javernand, bypassing the hamlet of Saint-Roch on the right.
(5) At the last house in the hamlet, take the Sentier Victor path, the one furthest to the left, between the entrance to the house and the road. It disappears a little into the vineyards but ends up on the road near Châtenay. Pass the hamlet, leave the road on your left and continue straight ahead until you reach a path on your right.
(6) Take the path that descends to the right. This is still Sentier Victor. Follow it until you reach the road to the hamlet of Tempéré. Continue to the D86.
(7) Turn left onto the Villié-Morgon road. At the hairpin bend to the right, take the path on the left to reach Chiroubles, which is clearly visible above the vineyards. At the main street, turn left and head for the car park (S/E).
good hike, shame it was foggy, but very good, we had a great time
