Park in the car park near the school in Quincié-en-Beaujolais
(S/E) Head south-west (away from the village centre) on Route de Varennes. After 300 metres, turn left onto Route du Chavagnon. Follow this road until you reach a bridge over the Ruisseau des Samsons, which you cross on the left.
(1) After the bridge, in Cherfeux, turn right towards the south-west towards Place aux Filles. Here, you will follow part of variants 3 and 4 of the Trois Châteaux circuit.
Follow the well-marked path that climbs into the woods and arrives at Place aux Filles after about an hour.
(2) Take the time to read the legend about this place, then follow the path that loops to the right. The path becomes less steep before arriving at the Cime des Grandes Terres.
(3) Continue south towards the Crête de l'Oiseau. Mostly in the woods, the path follows this ridge.
(4) When you reach a three-way junction (after about 1½ hours), take the path on the left that descends into a pine forest, reaches the bottom of a small valley, then climbs back up and leaves the forest at a large crossroads (altitude approx. 593 m).
(5) At this crossroads, turn right and then immediately left onto the path approximately opposite, which descends to La Sablière and ends at a crossroads.
(6) Turn left, leaving the logging track that branches off to the right. About 40 metres further on, turn right and descend for 100 metres to reach the Bas du Morion.
(7) Continue straight ahead for 100 metres on the path, heading south-west, to admire the landscape and a beautiful view of Veaux-en-Beaujolais.
(8) Return to Bas du Morion.
(7) Turn right towards the east and join a small road at a hairpin bend.
(9) Turn left to go around the beautiful Sainte-Marie building and continue to the gate of the property.
(10) Leave the road and take a north-east path that follows a ridge. Continue along this ridge, keeping north-east, pass near the Trou du Loup and reach the Brosse-Sabot crossroads.
(11) Once at Brosse-Sabot, continue straight ahead on a slight descent to reach, at around elevation 528, the Croix de Saburin, where you can enjoy a beautiful view of the Saône valley.
(12) Continue for about 100 metres and turn right. Keep left at the first fork, then at the next fork, turn right then left to reach a new crossroads on the Saburin plateau.
(13) Turn left and continue down a well-marked path, then follow the winding vineyard tracks, turning right and left, until you reach a small road. Below and to the north, you can admire the Château de la Palud. Once you reach the road, turn right, then left to reach the Château de la Palud.
(14) Leaving the château on your right, head back up towards the centre of the village of Quincié-en-Beaujolais via the Route de la Palud, then the Route des Chamaries, turning left. Cross the Rue du Bourg and turn left. Continue along the Route de Varennes until you see the school car park on your right (S/E).
