Park in the village square in Saint-Étienne-de-Varenne.
(S/E) Leave the square towards the church. Continue on the paved road until you reach the junction with the D62.
(1) Cross the D62, arrive at a Y-junction (cross) and take the road on the right (Combaly). Continue along the road.
(2) Continue along the path that follows the road, ignore the first path on the left and take the next one, also on the left, just before the forest. When you reach the climb towards Trou du Loup, continue north-west.
(3) Follow the path on the left through the forest to Trou du Loup (difficult in wet weather).
(4) At Trou du Loup, turn left at the intersection and continue along this path, which levels out. You will arrive on the plateau next to the farm, where you can enjoy a beautiful view of the Beaujolais region and even further afield (Bugey, Alps, etc.).
(5) Head back towards Ferme Sainte-Marie, which is private property, and turn left at the white gate at the entrance to the farm onto the path that descends.
(6) At the intersection, continue straight ahead on the Route de la Roche. At the end of the Route de la Roche (elevation 403), continue along a path between the vineyards until you reach the D646.
(7) Turn left onto this road and take the carriageway between the vineyards on the right. When you reach the foot of the village of La Baisse, turn left onto the small road that climbs uphill.
(8) Turn right, climb the 2-3 small steps to reach the village road, then the central square (S/E).
