The route takes you through forests of tall trees on the cross-country ski trails of the Bessat resort.
Roche Péréandre route starting from Thorrenc
Hike in the Cance Valley. Crossing small bridges over the river, you will arrive at Roche Péréandre, which I am sure will amaze you if you have never seen it before.
Your adventurous spirit will lead you through the old railway tunnel and over the Thorrenc viaduct without hesitation.
Around Chezenas
A walk starting from Saint-Pierre-de-Boeuf that takes you past vineyards and orchards on the hills around Chezenas.
Loop around Lake Ternay starting from Brossainc
A walk that leads along paths via the Col du Fayet to Lake Ternay, where you can, if you wish, enjoy the pleasant surroundings and take your lunch out of your rucksack.
Couzon Dam, Les Roches de Marlin, Sainte-Croix-en-Jarez
Walk to the Roches de Marlin and return along the Lac du Couzon. On the way, you can visit the former Chartreuse de Sainte-Croix-en-Jarez.
The Cance Valley starting from Talencieux
This hike will take you to the Cance Valley, where beautiful wild landscapes await you.
You will need to descend into the Cance Valley, the Combes Druisseau de la Goueille, de la Manoha and the Pralong stream. And of course, you will need to climb back up, which makes this hike varied and challenging at the same time.
You will learn a little history as you pass by the ruins of Oriol Castle.

Les Roches qui dansent via the Serves viewpoint, starting from Érôme.
From the Puy de Serves viewpoint, you will have a breathtaking view of the Rhône valley. At Les Roches qui dansent, you will be able to admire a unique geological feature.
From the Priory of Saint-Andeol to the Tower of Ratières
Hike starting from the small village of Saint-Andéol, where there is a small church called Le Prieuré.You will walk uphill to the Tour de Ratières, where your climb will be rewarded with a magnificent, almost 360° view of the Alps and the Vercors to the east, as well as the Pilat massif and the Ardèche mountains to the west.
Route of castles around Anjou
Around the village of Anjou, you will pass the entrances to several châteaux that dot the route.
On the heights around Andance
Hike along the banks of the Rhône and on the heights overlooking the Rhône valley, around the village of Andance. This walk offers beautiful views overlooking the valley of this majestic river.
The Sapt Dam in Saint-Genest-Malifaux
An easy hike in the Pilat Natural Park, through beautiful forests of tall trees and along the shores of Lake Sapt in a mid-mountain setting. Ideal in summer as the walk is refreshing. The village of Saint-Genest-Malifaux is located at an altitude of around 1,000 metres and many of the paths are shaded by century-old trees.
The heights of Limony and the Limony valley
An easy hike starting from the village of Limony. Once you have climbed to the top, weather permitting, you will have a beautiful view of the Alps to the east. The return journey will take you along the Limony.
Short circular in the countryside starting from Reventin
Starting from the small village of Reventin, you will make a circular route through the countryside and the hills overlooking the Rhône valley in places.
Ascent of the Col du Fayet from Félines
This hike will take you to the Col du Fayet via the paths, starting from the small village of Félines.
From Bourg-Argental to Thélis-la-Combe
In the heart of the Pilat Regional Park, a hike through a rolling, mid-mountain landscape. An ideal walk for hot weather, but one that certainly retains plenty of charm in winter too.
Loop in the Ay Valley starting from Sarras
On the outskirts of Sarras, the Ay river winds its way through a gorge that can be seen from certain points along the route, offering beautiful views of a unique landscape of cliffs and rocks.
The Parc des Varilles and the Louze plateau as seen from Saint-Maurice-l’Exil
A walk through the orchards around the hamlet of Saint-Maurice-l’Exil and the village of Clonas-sur-Varèze. Wide paths and minimal elevation gain make this a pleasant and easy walk for a family outing and, of course, for groups of hiking friends too. Ideal for March and April when the fruit trees are in bloom.
From Véranne to Saint-Julien-Molin-Molette
A route through the Pilat mountains that takes you along a short stretch of the Way of St James and offers beautiful views of the Rhône valley in places. You can also visit the villages of Véranne and Saint-Julien-Molin-Molette along the way.
Village of Bogy from Peyraud
Walk in the hills around Peyraud and Serrières. The climb up the Crémieux stream valley will take you to the small village of Bogy. The hike offers numerous viewpoints overlooking the Rhône valley and the Alps, visibility permitting.

An easy walk in the countryside on the heights around Condrieu. This hike offers beautiful views of the Rhône valley and the Pilat mountains.
From the village of Malleval to the village of Roisey
An easy walk between the village of Roisey and Malleval. At the start of the walk, you can see the Cascade du Saut de Lorette when there is water in winter and, on the way back, before reaching Malleval, you will pass through woodland along the Ruisseau de l’Épervier, which will provide a pleasant coolness if you are doing this walk in summer.
⚠️Access along the Ruisseau de l’Épervier is prohibited from the hamlet of Le Pont Jacquet (9) by municipal order following rockfalls caused by heavy flooding. Reported on 31 July 2025.
From Véranne to Sainte-Blandine
From the village of Véranne, shaded paths will take you through the hills of the Pilat Natural Park to the Croix de Sainte-Blandine, which overlooks the Rhône valley, offering a beautiful view of the Alps on a clear day.
The return journey is via theGR®65, which is also part of the Way of St James from Geneva.
In the Pilat mountains around the small pass of Doizieux
A circular walk through forests of tall trees. During this hike, walkers will be treated to numerous views stretching from the Rhône Valley to the Alps, as well as over the valleys and peaks of the Pilat massif.
Circular route in the Pilat mountains starting from Croix de Chaubouret
In the heart of the Pilat mountains, this hike will take you to the highest point of the massif, the Crêt de la Perdrix. The route will guide you to the Saut du Gier, a pretty waterfall not far from the shepherd's hut, where the river has its source. The path will take you through majestic forests where tall trees will shelter you from the sun's rays in summer.
From Le Grand Bois to Saint-Régis-du-Coin
An easy hike through the forests of Pilat. The route through the trees will take you to the Crêt de Chaussitre, where there is an orientation table offering a panoramic view of the nearby mountains and the Massif Central. The path takes you through the village of Saint-Régis-du-Coin, and further on, through the Gimel peat bogs. Near the end of the route, a second orientation table offers a superb view on a clear day, this time of the Alps.
The old mines of Éteize from Saint-Julien-Molin-Molette
This hike will take you on a journey through the Pilat mountains but also into the past, to a unique site resulting from the former lead mines.
From La Terrasse-sur-Dorlay to the Col de Trente Sous
A walk in the heart of the Pilat Park on the hills around La Terrasse-sur-Dorlay, alternating between sections through woodland and open paths offering beautiful views of the Pilat mountains and the Gier valley.
From Vernosc-les-Annonay to Quintenas
This hike will take you on a journey through the Cance Valley. Along the way, you will discover the industrial past of this region, now surrounded by nature, including the old disused railway line, the Marc Seguin suspension bridge and the remains of the old spinning mills. You will pass by Roche Péréandre, which is an astonishing geological feature.
Around Saint-Julien-Molin-Molette
Saint-Julien-Molin-Molette is a village located in the heart of the Pilat Regional Park. The hike takes you along streams and wooded hills to the Menhir du Flat, then to the Croix de Sainte-Blandine on the Way of St James. Along the route, in certain places, weather permitting, you will be treated to beautiful views stretching all the way to the Alps.
The Hauts des Roches de Condrieu
Starting from the river port at Les Roches-de-Condrieu, the path will take you from the lake up to the heights overlooking the Rhône valley. At certain points along the route, a bird’s-eye view of the river is sure to catch your eye. In Chonas-l’Amballan, you’ll pass by the foot of a Renaissance-style castle.
On the heights of Serrières
This hike will take you to the heights overlooking the Rhône valley around the village of Serrières. Clear paths offering beautiful views of the Rhône valley and the Alps, and pleasant wooded paths will follow one another throughout the route. The start of the walk will take you through the old village of Serrières, which is well worth a detour.
From Longe to Sainte-Croix-en-Jarez
Starting from the village of Longes, this hike will take you to the Roches de Marlin site. You will then pass through the former Chartreuse de Sainte-Croix-en-Jarez. Along the way, you will enjoy beautiful views of the Lyon region, the Monts du Lyonnais, the Gier Valley and the Rhône Valley. In good weather, you can even see the Alps.
Lac du Ternay from Saint-Julien-Molin-Molette
In the Pilat Mountains, this walk will take you through fields and wooded paths to Lac du Ternay.
Circular between La Ribaudy and Pélussin
The route of this hike will take you from the hamlet of La Ribaudy to the village of Pélussin. Sometimes along wooded paths, sometimes across fields, you will reach the valley of the Rivière du Régrillon. You will cross the Pélussin Viaduct, the former Tacot railway line.
The village of Reventin-Vaugris and the Gerbole valley
Starting from the village of Reventin-Vaugris, through the countryside and woods, the paths on this hike will take you through the valley where a small stream, the Gerbole, flows. From small bridge to small bridge, you will walk through wild areas above this stream.
The Menhir du Flat and the Colombier from Saint-Julien-Molin-Molette
Saint-Jullien-Molin-Molette is a typical village in the Pilat Mountains. Starting from this village, the route will take you to the Menhir du Flat, a geological curiosity. After passing through the village of Le Colombier, you will walk through woods where, from time to time, you will be treated to beautiful views of the Pilat Mountains and valleys.
From cross to cross in the Monts du Pilat from Sainte-Croix-en-Jarez
This route, which takes you sometimes across fields and sometimes through woodland, will lead you from cross to cross and from hamlet to hamlet in the heart of the Pilat Natural Park. You will occasionally be treated to beautiful views of the Rhône Valley, whilst at other times you may catch sight of lovely panoramas of the Monts du Lyonnais and the Giers Valley.
Around Brossainc via Vinzieux
A walk with no particular difficulty, offering beautiful views of the Rhône Valley and the villages in this part of the Pilat Natural Park. The route takes you through forests, offering shaded areas, and along open paths, offering varied landscapes.
Around Saint-Jacques-d’Atticieux
An easy walk through the countryside around Saint-Jacques-d’Atticieux. Alternating between open stretches and the shade of the woodland, walkers will be treated to beautiful views of the hills of the Pilat Regional Park and the Rhône valley.
