Head towards the Saint-Julien-Molin-Molette football stadium located outside the village on the road leading from Saint-Julien-Molin-Molette to the Ternay dam, not far from the Brasserie des Bières du Pilat. Park in the stadium car park.
(S/E) Leave the car park and cross the D8 to take the crossroads on the other side. Walk a few metres along the road on the right, then immediately take a dirt track on the left which climbs gently between the fields. At the first intersection, continue straight on until the next one.
(1) Turn left and continue along this path, ignoring a path on the right that is not shown on the map. Continue until you reach a crossroads with the hamlet of Les Chavanons visible on the left.
(2) Turn right, ignoring the path on the left that joins the tarmac road. Continue along this path towards the east and then north-east until you reach a crossroads with a green water tank on the left.
(3) Continue along the tarmac road opposite (Route de Maupon). At the last house in the hamlet, leave the tarmac road and take the dirt track on the right. Continue along this downhill track, staying on the main track and ignoring the side tracks on the right. Continue to the first house in the hamlet of Le Châtaigner, where you will see a rock fence surrounding the house.
(4) Turn right uphill at this intersection, before the hamlet (Chemin des Croisettes). Cross another path and you will come to a tarmac road. Follow it to the right until you reach a hairpin bend. Leave the tarmac road and continue along the dirt track opposite for about 200 m.
(5) Turn onto a path that branches off to the left and, a few metres further on, at a fork in the path that is not shown on the map, turn right. Then begin the climb up the scree left behind by the old mines. There are many paths to choose from for this ascent, but the goal is to reach the top of the hill, knowing that all these paths lead to the same place. Once at the top of the hill, take the time to enjoy the view.
(6) Set off again, taking the path on the right at the crossroads. Stay on the main path, which winds downhill, avoiding the side paths, until you reach a large crossroads. Continue straight ahead downhill. Stay on the main path until you reach the bottom of the descent at a crossroads above a farm.
(7) Turn right and continue straight ahead (Chemin du Roule Blanc) until you reach a path on the left.
(8) Turn left, then left again at the next intersection. Join a tarmac road (Route de Misérieux) and turn right, going downhill for a few dozen metres until you reach a dirt track on the left going downhill.
(9) Take this path and return to the fork in the road from the outward journey.
(1) Continue straight ahead along the path you took on the way there and you will reach the football stadium car park (S/E).
