The village of Erôme is located on the banks of the Rhône, a few kilometres north of Tain-l'Hermitage on the N7.
Head to the centre of the village and park in the car park of the village hall (Salle Heramen).
(S/E) Exit the car park near the basketball court and head north-east on the right along the Route des Combes. Continue to the crossroads where you will find a hiking signpost.
(1) Turn left uphill onto Chemin des Médées. Pass the bollards placed there to restrict motorised vehicles. Continue uphill on this path until you reach a fork in the road and a house, where you should turn left. Stay on this path, ignoring the paths branching off to the right and left, until you reach a tarmac road. Turn left for a few metres until you reach another crossroads with road signs.
(2) Continue straight ahead until you reach the Puy de Serves viewpoint. Enjoy the view here.
(3) At the end of the tarmac section, you will find a small signpost for hikers. Continue down the steep descent towards the Château de Serves. At the Château de Serves tourist sign, join a tarmac road
(4) Turn right and stay on this road. Alternate between a series of ascents and descents to reach a crossroads of paths at a hairpin bend.
(5) Leave the road and turn left onto the path. Wind your way downhill to reach the bottom of the valley. Cross the Ruisseau de Combs stream, follow it, join a tarmac path and you will find yourself back on a tarmac road at Puy de Serves.
(6) Take it to the left heading north, and at the hamlet of Les Forêts you will find a T-junction with a hiking signpost.
(7). Turn right onto the road, then make a left-right zigzag at a cross. Continue along the path and enter the forest. Continue along this path, taking several turns to reach the Croix de Romans crossroads.
Please note that although this path is wide and clear, it does not appear on maps. When you reach any forks in the path, continue straight ahead downhill
(8) Turn right onto the tarmac road. Follow this road and at the first crossroads, continue straight ahead, ignoring the road that branches off to the right. Continue along this road, known as the Route des Roches, until you reach another crossroads by a large pond.
(9) Turn left, still on the Route des Roches. Cross the Ruisseau du Douévas stream. Continue along this road uphill until you reach a crossroads with several directions.
(10) Take the road on the right to reach the summit of Les Roches, which winds down into the dirt tracks on the right leading to the Les Roches site. Then continue along the road in the same direction until you reach a house.
(11) Before passing the house, turn right onto the dirt track leading downhill. This path is marked in yellow and red and is theGRP® (Grandes Randonnées Pédestres) trail of the Drôme des Collines. The path joins a tarmac road.
(12) Turn right, then after fifty metres, leave the road and turn left onto the dirt track. Follow theGRP® markings, walk along the edge of the woods and you will reach the hamlet of Labrot.
(13) Continue straight ahead on theGRP®, reaching a crossroads of paths at a place called Combe Guérin.
(14) Take a dirt track on the right leading downhill, still following the red and yellow markings. Follow this path downhill until you reach the bottom of the Ravin des Brouas valley.
(15) Leave theGRP® de la Drôme des Collines here. Continue straight ahead.
Continue on flat ground following the stream, cross it and then find a new fork heading due north.
(16) Start climbing here to leave the valley. Continue straight ahead until you reach a paved section and the hamlet of Les Brégaudes.
(17) Continue along the tarmac road until you reach a crossroads with signposts for hiking trails.
(18) Turn left at the crossroads onto Rue de la Mistrale. About 100 metres after this crossroads, leave the tarmac road and take a dirt track on the right leading downhill. A red swing gate blocks the passage to vehicles but can be bypassed by pedestrians. Follow this wide path until you reach a tarmac road where it crosses a stream via a small bridge. A barrier identical to the one at the start of the dirt track is also located here.
(19) Take this tarmac road on the right, passing in front of a tourist sign. Then return to the crossroads you passed on the way there.
(1) Follow the same route as on the way there to return to the car park at the Heramen hall (S/E).
