The village of Andance is located in the north of the Ardèche on the banks of the Rhône and on the D 86. Go to the centre of the village. Leave the D86 and take Rue des Écoles and park in the car park at the end of this street.
(S/E) Head towards the Rhône and take the path on the right bank, going around the sports hall.
Walk along the Rhône.
(1) After walking along the Rhône for about 300 metres, take the footbridge to cross the Ruisseau de Torrenson, which flows into the Rhône. Continue left after the footbridge to follow the edge of the Rhône for about 2 km.
After covering this distance, the path will fork to the right, towards the west, leaving the riverbank.
(2) Pass under the road and railway line through two successive tunnels. Cross a path, continuing straight ahead towards the west. You will come to a vineyard; go around it by turning right.
Continue around the vineyard, turning left at the end of the rows of vines. Turn right again, then left and finally right again. You will come to a path where you should turn left.
Continue along this path uphill.
(3) Leave the path that branches off to the right, almost in the opposite direction, and continue straight ahead uphill.
The climb becomes steeper on a very stony path. After the climb, you will reach an almost flat section and continue straight ahead until you reach a path on the right (for information, on the left, a few metres away, you can see a tarmac road).
At the first path on the left, take this path to go around a plantation. At the next intersection, turn left to continue going around the plantation. At the end of the plantation, turn right to join a path that you must take on the right. Continue on this path and then leave it by taking a path on the left. Once again, join a path and take it on the right.
(5) After passing a grove of tall cedars (clearly visible), join a path. Follow this path on the right towards Blassieux Castle. Pass the castle entrance by briefly taking the D370 in a bend.
Immediately after passing the château, turn right onto the road called Chemin du Vieux Chêne.
The tarmac section will quickly end and become a dirt track. Continue along this track, ignoring two paths on the right. You will reach a crossroads where you should turn left.
Continue along this path, which winds through the woods, staying on the main path.
(6) You will arrive at the first houses of the hamlet of Le Creux and join a tarmac road (Chemin du Creux).
Continue straight ahead downhill, ignoring the roads that branch off to the right and left, until you reach a larger road (route de Talencieux), where you should turn right.
(7) Continue for a few metres and, before crossing the bridge over the Ruisseau de Torrenson, turn right into the street that runs alongside the stream.
(8) Go under the railway line through the tunnel. Join the main road (D82) and cross it. Be careful, as this is a busy road: use the pedestrian crossing. After crossing this road, continue on the pavement opposite and turn left immediately at the crossroads.
This time, cross the road (D86), again using the pedestrian crossing, to follow the street directly opposite.
At the end of this street, turn left. Walk past the fire station and then the Salle des Fêtes to reach the car park where you started (S/E).
