The Menhir du Flat and the Colombier from Saint-Julien-Molin-Molette

Head to the centre of the village of Saint-Julien-Molin-Molette and park in the car park opposite the village church and below the town hall (Place Louis Bancel).

(S/E) Leave the car park towards the church and take the street on the right. Walk a few metres and take the small staircase on the right, which leads up to the town hall car park. Head towards the town hall across the car park. Take the street to the right of the town hall. After passing it, turn right at the crossroads. Walk about 40 metres and take another passage on the right, which leads to a small park. Cross the park, heading to the right, and take the footbridge over the river below.

(1) After the footbridge, follow the path on the left that runs alongside the river (the Ternay). Cross the park to reach a road (Rue du Pré Battoir) at the end of the path as you leave the park. Follow it to the left, cross over the river again and, at the first crossroads, take the road on the right (Chemin du Taillis Vert) until you reach a fork.

(2) Ignore the road straight ahead towards a bridge and buildings, and take a dirt track on the left that runs alongside the river. After about 400 metres, a path climbs up to the left. Leave the road straight ahead and take this path (be careful, it is easy to take the wrong path here). Follow this paved path, which winds its way uphill until it joins a wide path.

(3) Follow it to the right, heading east, then, after a^first and^second left-hand bend, head north for about 200 metres. Leave the wide path and take another path that climbs steeply to the left. After about 150 metres, turn left and you will arrive at the Menhir du Flat.

(4) After admiring it, retrace your steps to return to the original path on the left. At the next intersection, turn left and join the Route de Saint-Julien. Follow it on the left for about 60 metres , taking care to reach the start of a path just before the entrance to a property.

(5) Leave the road and go up to the right along this path. Reach the village of Le Colombier, turning right at the end of the path to walk alongside the Pilat primary school. Reach the road crossing the village and follow it to the left for about 100 metres.

(6) Cross the road at the pedestrian crossing and, on the opposite pavement, continue left for a few metres, then turn right up Chemin du Calvaire, which joins a road (calvary on the left). Follow it to the right, still uphill, until you reach the first dirt track on the left (Chemin de la Rotie), just before a crossroads. Continue uphill on this track. Pass an isolated stone house and continue straight ahead uphill, leaving the house on your right. The track reaches a fork.

(7) Turn left and walk about 50 metres to join another, wider path. Turn right and after about 100 metres you will reach an intersection.

(8) Turn sharply left onto a wide uphill path. Continue along this path, ignoring the paths branching off to the right and left, until you reach a road at a bus stop. Take this road to the left for about 60 metres to reach an intersection with a cross.

(9) Turn right onto the second road on the right (Chemin de la Guillotière) and continue for about 600 metres until you reach a 90° right-hand bend.

(10) At this bend, leave the road and take a dirt track on the left that enters the forest. Follow this track downhill and, after a 90° left turn, turn right at the first intersection. Pass a turn-off on the right and then another on the left to reach a crossroads with several tracks.

(11) Continue on the path immediately to the left. At the intersection of paths, turn left, then a few metres further on, turn right to reach a road. Cross it and take the track opposite. Pass close to a house and continue straight ahead, staying on the main path until you reach a fork.

(12) Continue to the right, staying on the main path, first along the edge of the forest and then through the forest, until you reach another intersection with a wide path.

(13) Turn right downhill. When you reach a fork, take the path on the left (either way leads to the same place). Continue until you reach a hairpin bend on the right (elevation 818).

(14) At the exit of the hairpin bend, there are two narrower paths on the left. Leave the first path on the left and take the second one downhill. (Be careful, it is easy to make a mistake here). Continue downhill until you reach a road (Chemin des Oriols). Follow it to the left until you reach an intersection.

(15) Turn left onto the wide Chemin des Baumes, GR®65, ignoring the paths branching off to the right and left, until you reach the first houses of Saint-Julien-Molin-Molette and then a fork in the road opposite the cemetery wall.

(16) Continue left downhill (Montée du Calvaire). When you reach the main road of the village, turn left towards the town hall. Cross at the pedestrian crossing and return to the car park (S/E).
