Let's go for a walk in the woods
Discover the village of Saint-Loup-des-Bois, its inhabitants, the Saints-Lupéens, and the forests that surround it. You will pass by the Museum of Agricultural Machinery and Rural Life, which traces the history of agricultural machinery. In addition to these major collections in Europe, there is an astonishing and impressive collection of irons and a collection dedicated to woodworking trades (clog makers, coopers, wheelwrights, etc.).

The village of Saint-Vérain, built on a hillside, was surrounded by fortified walls in the Middle Ages, making it one of the most powerful feudal cities in the region. Numerous remains bear witness to the city's importance, including ramparts, towers, gates, wells, a keep, etc.

Between the Sancerre vineyards and the Loire by bike
This walk takes you on a journey through the Sancerre vineyards and along the Loire. Starting from Saint-Satur, you’ll walk through the vineyards at the foot of Sancerre before reaching the Loire by bike by crossing the Canal Latéral.
This walk is easier than the one called “In the heart of the Sancerre vineyards – Chavignol and its surroundings”. The elevation changes are less significant. The final four kilometres are on flat ground.
Soumard Fountain in Saint-Andelain
Set off to discover the traditional heritage of the wine-growing hamlets on the Saint-Andelain hill. Take the opportunity to visit the winegrowers of the Pouilly Fumé appellation and don't miss climbing to the top of the old water tower, now converted into a viewpoint, to see how far you've come and admire the view of the vineyards and the Loire.
La Villéon discovery trail in Puisaye
Marked trail No. 61.Emmanuel de La Villéon (1848-1944) was a painter of Breton origin (Fougères, where he has his museum) who lived from 1900 to 1936 in a mansion in the hamlet of Salvard. An admirer of Monet, he adopted most of the characteristics of Impressionism.This route, now enhanced with panels featuring reproductions and commentary, allows visitors to rediscover some of the places painted by the artist, including certain characteristics of the Poyaudin bocage.
Circuit de La Chapelle aux Rois
Marked trail No. 35.The commune of Bitry covers 1,746 hectares. The Ramois boundary marker is at an altitude of 326 metres, while the La Maloise river flows at the lowest point, 189 metres above sea level.Between the village and the hamlet of Les Beauchats, you can visit a chapel dedicated to Saint Marc and Saint Roc, which was restored in the 20th century.
Bissiols d'en Bas - Préberne - Les Doisnes
Hike along sunken paths and through undergrowth, cross streams and return via the village of Savigny.
Walk in Donzy
A leisurely walk to discover this pretty village in the Nièvre region, crossed by the River Nohain, which preserves traces of its history, in particular the ruins ofthe Church of Notre-Dame du Pré, as well as old mills, half-timbered houses and wash houses.
Amidst vineyards and woodland south of Sancerre
A walk starting from Sancerre, the great wine town. Set off to explore part of the renowned vineyard (flint-rich terroir) whilst passing through the small woods to the south of the village. The route offers a variety of views, particularly of Sancerre.
On the hills above Donziais
This route allows you to explore the villages of southern Donziais. You’ll follow the Talvanne valley towards the hills of Colméry, which boasts the highest point in the Donziais region. Take a moment at Mont Grès, the highest point (357 m), which offers a magnificent panorama from which to admire the superb scenery and enjoy the tranquillity of the surroundings. Head towards Saint-Malo-en-Donziois before reaching Cessy-les-Bois, nestled at the bottom of the Talvanne Valley.
Route des Forges
This route takes you back to the days when the iron and steel industry was flourishing in the Donziais region. Champdoux, a hamlet in the commune of Sainte-Colombe-des-Bois, was then a major centre of the Nièvre iron and steel industry. It was home to one of the department’s largest factories.

Through the Sancerre vineyards between Verdigny and Sury-en-Vaux.
A hike that takes place mainly among vineyards and offers beautiful panoramic views of Sancerre and its surrounding countryside. Numerous wayside crosses, two wash houses and the village of Sury-en-Vaux, with its beautiful old houses and church, add a touch of heritage to the route.

In the heart of the Sancerre vineyards - Chavignol and its surroundings
During this hike, you will almost always have a view of the entire vineyard and Sancerre. Depending on the season, you will see the pruning of the vines or the grape harvest. You will pass by the highest "peaks" in the region.
From vine to wine in Pouilly
A signposted route to discover everything there is to know about the Pouilly wine appellations.
The Chemin des Bois, starting from Arquian
This route is no longer passable. Trees are blocking the paths, and some of these paths are in very poor condition. The signposting put in place a few years ago is no longer up to date. Work will soon be carried out, including a new site survey and new signposting
Arquian is situated in Puisaye Nivernaise; the river Vrille, a tributary of the Loire, flows through the area.
In the village square, the bust of Jean Carriès, sculpted by Charles Gaudry, pays tribute to the famous ceramicist.
A circular loop at the foot of Sancerre, starting from Amigny

Taking this path is to step into the life and work of Jean-Joseph Carriès. This trail begins with the history of pottery and ends with a sunken path lined with works by ceramicists and the potters’ quarters in the village of Saint-Amand-en-Puisaye.

In the land of the potters, there is first and foremost the clay that serves as the raw material for the craftsmen, then the water that gushes out of the clay-silica or clay-limestone soils, depending on the geology of the subsoil in this area. But there's also the beauty of nature, with its landscapes, paths framed and even marked by these hedges and their sometimes mysterious, sometimes mischievous tadpoles. They are the source of some of the legends that live in the area.

The Chemin des Deux Visages

The area of Dampierre-sous-Bouhy spans two natural regions: the Forterre and the Puisaye. Numerous flint tools found near the Moulin Bléneau bear witness to the presence of humans during the Neolithic period. In the hamlet of Les Pasquiers, the discovery of the remains of a Gallo-Roman villa also attests to human occupation during this period.

The Year 5 and 6 class from Dampierre-sous-Bouhy has created a walking route for you. This route will allow you to discover the landscapes of Puisaye and its many water sources.
