Description of the walk

Park in the Marronniers car park on Quai du Maréchal Joffre.

(S/E) Follow the yellow signposts and cycle along the banks of the Loire via the Quai du Maréchal Joffre, known as the “Route Touristique”, as far as the PO (Paris-Orléans) bridge where the Cyclorail runs (to cross the bridge, speak to the Cyclorail manager). Continue past the bridge for a few dozen metres.

(1) Take the road on the left which climbs towards Port-Aubry and reach a four-way junction.

(2) Follow Rue des 4 Fils Doumer on the left and continue straight on until you reach the junction with Rue Saint-Agnan (D955a).

(3) Turn left towards the town centre.

(4) At the roundabout, turn left onto Place Saint-Agnan, passing the church, then take Rue des Forges to reach the starting car park (S/E).

An easy walk, but not particularly interesting. The whole route follows the road; the first section along the Loire is more pleasant than the second, much of which runs alongside the railway line.

A walk taken in the opposite direction, starting from Port-Aubry.
A lovely morning view of the Loire on arriving in Cosne.
A quick visit to Cosne to make the journey a bit longer.
Returned along the banks of the Loire rather than by road.
You can only really see the Loire on the northern part of the route.
