Peyrilles walks

From Lavercantière to Rampoux via Saint-Martin le Désarnat, this rural hike will introduce you to some remarkable heritage sites.

Between the valley and limestone hillsides, this walk will take you along wild paths. Discover the traditional houses, dovecotes and bread ovens of the hamlets of Lantis and Mas Teulat.

Walk around Saint-Pierre-Lafeuille to discover the built heritage, springs, wells, gariottes (stone huts), etc.

In the land of the King of Naples, enjoy a walk through the woods with magnificent views.

Walk in the forest and along sunken paths typical of this region of north-western Lot, starting from the village of Les Arques. Very green landscape in summer, pretty undergrowth in a very wild environment (passing close to only three residences). Most of the walk is off paved roads, on local lanes. Some very pretty views. This walk is marked on the IGN map and is signposted in yellow on the ground.

You are now on the signposted interpretive route of the Masse Valley Sensitive Natural Area. During your walk, you will discover remarkable built and natural heritage sites.

Set off to explore the countryside and the Bourian region on the Pech Curet discovery trail. Bread ovens, gariottes, cazelles and dolmens await you.

Half road, half path. Superb views. Crossing Aurimont, a typical village with stone houses and slate roofs.

Route starting from Saint-Michel-de-Cours, descending towards the Rauze stream to follow its course before climbing back up to the starting point through the forest.

A route taking us up to the heights of Le Vigan en Quercy (Lot-46) Leaving the village and its narrow streets, we gradually climb along small roads and paths to the hamlet of Gamoutou. Winding our way from valley to ridge, passing numerous streams and their mills, we discover beautiful views of the surrounding countryside.

The thirty-first stage of the Way of St James. An easy stage with a slight incline from Cahors and a lovely climb at the start. You will cross the magnificent Pont Valentré to arrive, 23 km further on, at Labastide-Marnhac, a charming little town in the Lot department where white stone houses with flower-bedecked façades line both sides of the main street. The route continues gently to Lascabanes, a picturesque little village with its row of houses typical of the small farmers of yesteryear.

Cahors... I knew it by name, I often passed by not far from it, but I never stopped there. What a mistake! Cahors is a pretty little medieval town and a city on a human scale where you can do everything on foot. With its famous and sumptuous Pont Valentré bridge and its famous Saint-Étienne cathedral, this town has an incredible ancient and medieval heritage. Old Cahors is also a very attractive place with its secret gardens, half-timbered houses, market halls and market. I visited and discovered Cahors on my second day of rest after 21 days of walking on my way to Santiago de Compostela.

Starting from the pretty medieval village of Goujounac, throughout this hike in the Bourian region you will discover the small local heritage: gariottes/cazelles, springs, wells, wash houses and fountains. A hilly area wooded with pine, chestnut and oak trees. You will discover the two hamlets of Touron and Fargou, which bear witness to a rich rural history. The working farm at Touron sells local duck products. To round off your hike, you can quench your thirst at the bar of the hostelry on the village square.

The route leads from Luzech to the Payrols valley via the Crespiat plateau and its caussenardes. The Payrols valley is home to a few geological curiosities that are well worth a detour! The outward and return journeys are along pretty paths offering beautiful panoramic views or, conversely, privacy and tranquillity.

Climbing up the aptly named Combe d'Écoute-s'il-pleut, you arrive at the dry grasslands of Lentillac, where you can discover a magnificent dolmen. Descend towards the peatland, a clear river that can disappear and reappear a little further on through resurgences.

Walk around the village of Flottes to discover its fountain, one of its gariottes, and its crops: vines, truffle trees, etc.

This hike, along cliff-top paths, offers superb views of several meanders of the Lot, which you will cross. Several small locks are used by pleasure boats. The descent to Vers allows you to discover the village and its river of the same name with its port at the confluence with the Lot.

Hike through the heart of the vineyards to the foot of the Oppidum de l'Impernal de Luzech. A shaded route where you will find peace and quiet.

Circuit between the Lot valley, combes and viewpoint over the village of Albas.

Perched on a cliff overlooking a bend in the Lot river, Saint-Cirq-Lapopie is an exceptional village that has preserved its medieval architecture. This deliberately shortened stage allows you to take a long tour of the monuments, narrow streets and shops of Saint-Cirq-Lapopie after walking along the towpath on the banks of the Lot. The short detour beyond the village to the Cirque de Vènes viewpoint is well worth the effort.

After taking a quiet road and a forest path, you will admire the church, the castle and then the narrow streets of the old port. Following the Dordogne to the old railway bridge, the greenway takes you back to the starting point.

Starting from the Col de Magès, a circular route that takes you to the Gouffre de Cabouy and the Gouffre Saint-Sauveur. The resurgences are most spectacular to see in winter, spring and autumn when the water flow is greater, and on a day with clear skies, which will give beautiful colours to the gushing waters. But it’s different every time, so the best thing is still to go and discover them for yourself. Unfortunately, there is an 800-metre stretch along the road that cannot be avoided without a major detour, but the rest of the walk takes you along paths through some very beautiful, quiet spots.

A pretty 12 km trail, almost entirely in the woods, which is pleasant in summer. There aren't many viewpoints, but this circuit allows you to discover the pretty village of Grézels and, once you reach Le Tuc, you can see the Lot river below.

This circuit will introduce you to two of the prettiest villages in the Lot Valley and vineyards. These villages are also steeped in history and preserve visible reminders of their past.

Hike through varied countryside landscapes between the heights of Cénac and the Céou valley. The route avoids tarmac roads as much as possible, mostly following paths through the woods and combining PR® trails marked in yellow. Beautiful views of Domme and the Céou Valley.

With a magnificent overview of the landscapes of the Causses du Quercy Regional Nature Park around Rocamadour, this hike takes you into a breathtaking site at the heart of a thousand-year-old pilgrimage dedicated to the Virgin Mary, a major Christian site since the Middle Ages and classified as a Grand Site d'Exception in the Midi-Pyrénées region.

Offering a magnificent overview of the landscapes of the Causses du Quercy Regional Natural Park around Rocamadour, this hike takes you into a breathtaking site at the heart of a thousand-year-old pilgrimage dedicated to the Virgin Mary, a major Christian site since the Middle Ages and classified as a Grand Site d'Exception in the Midi-Pyrénées region. This hike partly follows the previously published hike 1: see link in Practical Information. It is slightly shorter and has a lower elevation gain.

With 216 steps and 1,000 years of history, this village in the Lot conceals millennia-old treasures on the cliffside. Perched above the Gorges de l'Alzou, Rocamadour is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful villages in France.
