Description of the walk

Departure from Place de la Paix in Lavercantière.

(S/E) Pass between Saint-Quirin Church and the town hall towards the castle. At the corner of the castle, follow a road to the right for about 30 metres.

(1) Then take a path that descends to the left.

(2) At the end of the descent, turn right onto the path. Continue for about 700 metres, then at the intersection, descend to the left to reach a crossroads.

(3) Keep left and continue along the fields until you reach the road. Turn right and descend to the Romanesque church of Saint-Martin.

(4) Continue to the right towards the stream, passing between the church and the cross, until you reach the D47. Take the road on the left, then the steep path up to the right until you reach a road.

(5) Continue along this road to the left until you reach the alluvial plain. At the first dovecote on the left, take the road on the right towards Mayrac and immediately turn left onto the path that climbs uphill. Continue straight ahead on the main path until you reach a crossroads in the forest.

(6) Follow the wide path on the left and continue straight ahead along the fences until you reach the crossroads at the highest point. Panorama here.

(7) Take the main road on the right and descend to the hamlet of Salapès.

(8) Just before the hamlet, turn right onto the path that descends, then at the next crossroads, turn left to the valley before climbing back up to the road. Follow it for 20 metres and descend left onto the path to the D47 at Moulin de Bardaly.

(9) Continue left then right towards Rampoux, cross the bridge over the Ourajou, take the first path on the right for 50 m then climb left to a crossroads.

(10) Follow the small path on the left which descends after the motocross track and stay on the path until you reach the road. Continue to the right, then right again onto the path leading to Rampoux and its church.

(11) Opposite the Church of Saint-Pierre-ès-Liens, take the road downhill to the right. Follow it, then take a grassy path on the right to the entrance to Lavercantière. Keep to the right until you reach the church (S/E).

A pleasant hike because it is very quiet: not a sound... We only encountered one person.
There is a small error in the description at the end, for returning to the starting point: the grassy path towards the church is on the right at the entrance to the village, not on the left.
Thank you for sharing this.

It is a pleasant, easy, well-marked hike along wide paths in unspoilt, wild countryside.
When you arrive at St Martin's Church, don't hesitate to go and see the owner of the pretty mill just behind the church, as he has the key...
The route was a little short for us, so we did the Frau moorland route as well, but it was rather disappointing and not very interesting.
So we set off again to do the Chemin des Prieurs in Catus: not great (apart from some very beautiful dovecotes and a bread oven)... It's only from the hamlet of Salvezou that you go down a pretty path and then the Chemin des Buis (which is only named after box trees!) a path through mossy woods.
23 km in this corner of the Lot
We hike very often in the Lot countryside... and there is plenty to marvel at.
