Park in the car park at the bottom of the village of Les Arques.
(S/E) Take the street leading up into the village. At the former presbytery (now converted into an artists’ residence), take the alleyway on the right which passes in front of the ‘Relais de la Découverte’ and Zadkine’s former home.
Continue down the narrow lane and turn right to find yourself facing a former tobacco drying shed.
(1) Carry on to the right, down a grassy path bordered by a dry-stone wall, until you reach the road (stone cross).
(2) Take the road on the left and cross the Ruisseau du Divat. Continue along the road until you reach the gate.
(3) Take the path on the left after the gate, then walk uphill for a long stretch through the woods until you reach a junction of wide, stony paths.
(4) Turn right, then take a lovely narrow path on the left. Follow this until you reach the road.
(5) Cross the road and carry on straight ahead along the track until you reach another road.
(6) Turn left twice until you reach the D150.
(7) Turn right, then immediately left onto the wide stony track. Continue until you reach the road at La Tronquière.
(8) Turn left onto the Route de la Tronquière (panoramic view). After the houses, take the path that descends to the left until you reach the road. Continue downhill, then turn left onto the D150 until you reach the sewage treatment plant.
(9) Stay on the path that runs alongside the treatment works before heading up the hairpin bend to the right to a small street.
(10) Take the road on the right to return to the village of Les Arques (on the left, a cemetery with the remains of Saint-Martin’s Church, the former parish church of Les Arques). Head left towards the centre of the village.
(1) Return to the starting point by following the route in reverse. In the village, don’t miss the Zadkine Museum. (S/E)
