Over hill and dale in the Hauts-de-Seine

Although densely urbanised, the Hauts-de-Seine department offers wonderful opportunities for walkers, with a rich heritage and often a little elevation. This series of hikes, almost all of which are accessible by public transport, takes you on a journey of discovery through this department, avoiding major roads as much as possible and favouring footpaths and alleys, public parks and wooded areas.

Notes

Almost all of these hikes are accessible by public transport (Metro, Tram, RER, Transilien or Bus), which is the most convenient means of access in this highly urbanised context, where car traffic and parking are complicated.

This collection is organised with, on the one hand, linear walks that follow on from each other and, on the other hand, loop and star-shaped walks starting from the same place. As each walk is relatively short (7.6 km on average), it is possible to do two in a row if you wish.

For further information, see the detailed information sheets.

On Visorando, other hikes are available in the Hauts-de-Seine department but are linked to other circuits than this one:
- The Inner Ring of Paris.
- From the Seine to the Marne via the historic axis of Paris.
- The green corridor of southern Paris.
- Through the forests of western Paris.
- Following the Seine through the Île-de-France region.

These various hikes were completed by the author between December 2014 and August 2025, with those in spring and autumn 2020 taking place during lockdown.

In the end, I didn't do this hike, as it was too urban, but I followed the Bièvre from Jouy en Josas to Guyancourt, returning via Saint-Cyr, Versailles (including a walk through the castle grounds) and Fosses Reposes. Starting and ending in Meudon: a beautiful winter loop of around forty kilometres....
