Description of the walk

Starting point and access: Parc de Saint-Cloud station.
- Tram - Line T2. Take exit 3 Rue Audé, at the front of the tram on the platform in the direction of Pont de Bezons to Porte de Versailles (if coming from the opposite direction, cross the tracks carefully at the designated crossing).
- Bus - Lines 52, 72, 126, 160, 175, 426, 467. Take the footbridge over the tram tracks, near the small RATP building.

No markings
In some places, you will cross or briefly follow marked trails. Markings are only mentioned here when necessary.

(S/E) Follow Rue Audée, on the right at the top of the stairs leading from the tram station, opposite the end of the footbridge when coming from the bus stops. Climb the stairs and cross Rue Dailly at the pedestrian crossing on the right. Continue straight ahead and uphill into Rue du Docteur Desfossez and cross Rue de la Faïencerie. Take the next right, Rue de l'Église. Then turn left and walk along the church on your right. At the end of the street, climb the stairs.

(1) At the top, first turn right then left to cross the street and climb another set of steps. At the top, turn right. At the next intersection, take a sharp left turn onto Rue des Écoles. Continue straight ahead and note the large wooden house at No. 15. Pass a car park on your right and continue along Allée des Lilas (dead end). Go through a gate and enter Parc de Saint-Cloud. Immediately afterwards, turn right, go through a chicane and climb up a cement path and then some steps (red and white markings). Keep going straight ahead and ignore all the paths branching off to the sides. Pass a low wall on your right and cross a wide path.

(2) Take a small gate slightly to the right (red and white markings) to enter the Jardin du Trocadéro. Immediately ignore a path on the right. At the next crossroads, go straight ahead. Go around a pond on the right and pass in front of a rotunda with benches. Continue along the paved path, note a fountain on the left and cross a ditch. Stay on the main path, ignoring all the side paths. Leave the garden and reach a viewpoint.

(3) Turn right and follow a wide path bordered by the fence of the Jardin du Trocadéro on your right. Ignore the first gate on your right. Just before a gate, take the second gate on your right and return to the Jardin du Trocadéro. Turn left immediately and follow a path that soon runs alongside a wall. Continue straight ahead and ignore all the paths on the right. Move away from the wall, arrive at a three-way junction and turn left.

(4) You will come to a path; follow it to the left, walking alongside a lawn on your right. On your left, ignore a path and then a wide path leading to the clearly visible Bassin des 24 Jets. Immediately after, turn left onto a cement path and walk gently downhill with a lawn on your right. At the crossroads, go straight ahead and note the walled garden on your left. Walk up to the Bassin de la Grande Gerbe.

(5) Go around the fountain on the left, pass in front of a restaurant and, immediately afterwards, take a stony path on the left along a lawn. Continue straight ahead, pass a forest barrier, cross a tarmac road and continue on the path opposite. Shortly afterwards, turn left onto a path that starts between two stone markers and enters the woods. Continue straight ahead, ignoring any tracks on either side. After a very short hill, you will come to a wide path. Follow it to the left. Cross the Rond des Gardes and continue straight ahead to the Rond de la Balustrade. Go around it on the left, on a tarmac road, and reach the balustrade, which offers a beautiful view of Paris and the Val de Seine.

(6) Continue around the Rond de la Balustrade, leave a parking lane on your left and take the next path on the left (red and white arrow). After about a hundred metres, turn left and enter the woods. Two paths immediately appear: take the one on the right, marked in red and white. At the first crossroads, go straight ahead. Then cross a wide grassy lane and follow it to the left on its right-hand side (ignore the markings). Then go around a grassy circle on the right and cross another wide lane. Two paths then appear opposite: take the one on the right, which is initially tarmac and then gravel, and descend gently.

(7) When you reach a tree with a yellow marker on the left, turn sharply left and descend along a path lined with terracotta tiles. At the first crossroads, continue straight ahead. Then cross an open area with a restaurant on the left. Just before a group of trees, turn right. At the triple fork that appears shortly afterwards, go straight ahead on a faint path (yellow marker + red and white marker). Descend to an intersection near a road on the left.

(8) There are two options here:
- If you want to avoid a steep descent and a few tricky sections, join the road and follow it to the right and downhill. After a hairpin bend to the right, pass the toll booth and join the main route.
- Otherwise, as shown on the map, turn right onto the path and descend until you reach a stone wall. At a fork, veer left to make a loop. Find the main path (which descends steeply) and cross it to make a loop on the other side, along a metal fence. Barriers indicate that the old route, which ran along the top of the exit porch, is closed for safety reasons: turn left and descend as best you can to the toll booth.
In both cases, pass under the porch (straight ahead if you are coming from the road, to the right if you are coming from the path) and leave the Parc de Saint-Cloud.

Yellow markings

(9) First turn right then left to cross the D910 in two stages at the protected crossing. On the other side, turn left, cross the D406 (Avenue de la Division Leclerc) and follow it to the right. Take the first left, Avenue de la Cristallerie. Pass under a porch and, immediately after, climb a staircase on the right. At the landing, turn right and climb a flight of steps. Then climb a small staircase on the left. At the top, turn right and climb a cement path interspersed with steps. At a T-junction, turn left (railing). You will come out onto a wide concrete path. Follow it between two walls, then between a wall and a metal fence. At the end, turn left and go under the N118 bridge.

(10) On the other side, just before No. 23, turn left and enter Brimborion Park. Take a path on the left and follow the PR® No. 6. Continue on the tarmac and cross the pony club car park. Go around a riding arena on the left and continue along a tree-lined path. Further on, turn left towards a viewpoint. Then descend to the right, leaving a bench on your left. At the next crossroads, turn left twice and continue downhill through the shade. Make a hairpin turn to the right. Ignore a path on the left and continue to the foot of a staircase.

(11) Climb the stairs on the right. At the top, turn right. At the next intersection, turn left. You will come to an open area, turn left and then climb a staircase on the right. At the top, turn left twice to climb another staircase. At the top, take the second path on the left, which is actually a wooden walkway. At the end, go through a chicane and continue along a street. Then pass the bollards and continue straight ahead. At No. 3, first turn right then left and climb a path parallel to the street. This will lead you to a viewpoint. Turn right and cross an esplanade. You will come out onto Rue Marcel Allégot and follow it to the left. You will arrive at a crossroads (fountain and large CNRS building on the left).

No signposts

(12) Turn left, go through a gate and follow Chemin des Lacets (private road, pedestrians allowed). Go downhill and ignore two paths on the right. Then take three hairpin bends: right-left-right. At the fourth bend, leave the street and go down a staircase leading to the tram station. Cross the tracks carefully at the designated crossing and go down the stairs on the other side. At the traffic lights, cross the road in two stages. Continue down a small staircase leading to the towpath.

Yellow markings

(13) Follow the paved path on the left towards the Seine Musicale. Go under the footbridge connecting the left bank of the Seine to Île Seguin and continue along the towpath (note the "ball" covered with solar panels on the right, which houses the Seine Musicale auditorium). You will reach a point where the path is closed for construction (as of October 2025).

No signage

(14) Follow the diversion set up for pedestrians and walk along the wide pavement between the D7 (towards Stream) on the left and the tram line on the right. Pass under the Pont de Sèvres bridge. On the other side, turn right to reach the Musée de Sèvres tram station. Cross the tracks carefully at the crossing on the right. On the other side, first turn right then left to rejoin the towpath at the foot of the Pont de Sèvres bridge.

Yellow markings

(15) Follow the path on the left and pass the pontoons of a rowing club.

No markings

At the corner of the sailing club building, leave the towpath and turn left onto a wide, stabilised path. Continue along a wooden walkway that crosses a wetland area and runs alongside a large lawn on your right. At the end of the walkway, turn left and, at the traffic lights, cross the tram tracks and then the road in several stages.

(16) On the other side, go through a gate to re-enter the Parc de Saint-Cloud. Continue straight ahead on a grassy path. At the first intersection, continue straight ahead. At the second intersection, take the second path on the right. Walk past the foot of a monument, continue straight ahead and go around the lower basin of the Grande Cascade on the right. Continue straight ahead along a wide gravel path, go through a gate and leave the park.

(17) Go through a tunnel and up a flight of steps. At the top, turn right. At the traffic lights, cross the first road. Then turn left onto a cycle path. At the end, cross several pedestrian crossings: slightly to the left, right-left, right then left. N.B. The area is undergoing long-term construction work: follow the instructions on site. Go under the A13 motorway bridge, descend slightly and you will quickly reach the tram and bus stations (S/E).

Fairly recent route. Very beautiful walk, quite physically demanding (steep climbs). Some difficulty following the paper map in St Cloud park. But the route on smartphones and Sunto watches (.gpx format) of other participants made up for this. All in all, I recommend it.

Hello Françoise. Thank you for your feedback.

The word "carrière" is used here in the sense of "riding arena", an enclosed space, usually sandy, where riding lessons can be given (we are in a pony club). It is a term commonly used in the equestrian world, but I understand that it may not be understood by everyone.

I have just clarified this in the description.

A multi-stage hike that crosses landscapes that are very different from one another. I really liked the beautiful Saint Cloud park section, then the section between 9 and 11 is surprising, there are quite a few stairs, so be careful if you have knee problems. You pass through hidden paths, and the area is indeed very noisy. At Point 10, at one point, you have to go around a "quarry". I didn't really understand the word, I didn't see a quarry, I relied on the map to be sure of the direction and on the markings too. From Point 11 onwards, I avoided the stairs (for my knees) and took the paths to the decking. The section along the Seine is pleasant. It was starting to get dark, so I had to stop at Point 15 because the area beyond was very poorly lit... So I did the walk using the paper description. Thank you.
