The Joncquoy Linden Tree in Aubers
If you have time, you can visit the museum dedicated to the Battle of Fromelles, which took place in July 1916. Next, you will skirt the village of Aubers, but you will see some of its ponds, which make this village a tourist destination for fishing and camping. You will also encounter the very respectable Tilleul du Joncquoy, which was planted there in 1490.

Wavrin - Don-Sainghin via the lodge
Do you prefer to use public transport, or do you not have your own transport to get to the start of the walk? This walk from station to station will allow you to enjoy some of the most beautiful natural areas of the Parc de la Deûle.Starting from Wavrin station, you can explore the lodge site, walk alongside the Deûle Canal at various distances, and finish with a visit to La Louvière Park before reaching Don-Sainghin station.

La Canteraine
Starting from the Parc Mozaïc car park, a 15 km walk along the farm tracks of the Marais de la Deule, between Emmerin, Noyelles-lès-Seclin and Ancoisne.

Canal, woods and ponds in Ploegsteert
A long stroll across flat land with a nice climb at the end.
Only two slightly difficult sections, so it's an ideal walk in autumn and winter.
The walk starts on a small road with few houses and therefore little traffic, before crossing Le Bizet via Les Voyettes.
The route then continues along the canal and the beautiful Pont Bayart bridge, which is reserved for non-motorised traffic, then past a few ponds with facilities for welcoming storks, before ending at the Bois de Ploegsteert.

A short stretch then along the Ghent-Wevelgem roads to reach the Christmas Truce Cemetery.You then cross the Ploegsteert Wood to reach the Memorial Museum.

A few kilometres from Lille lies a green oasis: the Phalempin Forest. Although modest in size (670 hectares), this forest is a rejuvenating place for hiking. Despite its small size, the forest boasts great biodiversity and legends. Once upon a time, in the village of La Neuville, on the edge of the Phalempin Woods, there was an inn called Leu Pindu with an unusual sign. It's up to you to discover the rest!

Sentier des Gueux
A pleasant route in Belgium.
This is the Sentier des Gueux (Geuzen walking route), the end of which I have modified.
It uses the same signposting as the Mont Kemmel and Mont Rouge routes.
It is an easy walk along small roads, wide farm tracks and some very pleasant paths (including a "paved slanting street"!).
The Ravensberg countryside in Bailleul
Start and finish at the car park on the Grand-Place in Neuve Église, via the Ravensberg countryside in Bailleul. This route passes through muddy paths during winter, so it is advisable to do this hike in dry weather in summer.
Neuve Eglise via the countryside of Wulvergem and Ploegsteert
Start and finish at the car park on the main square in Neuve Église. It is also possible to start from Wulvergem. Passing through Rosenberg, along dirt tracks and through fields that are wet and muddy in winter. The walk takes place near the Cense de l'Alouette vineyard. In the shadow of Mont Kemmel, it overlooks the Douve to the north and the Lys valley to the south.
Neuve-Eglise centre via the Ploegsteert countryside
Pass Notre Dame Church, follow Bassevillestraat, cross Zuidlindestraat and take Naaikorfstraat. Pass the Cense de l'Alouette vineyard. At the end, turn right onto Rue du Rossignol, then right onto Leeuwerkstraat and continue straight ahead onto the farm track, which can be quite muddy in winter.

Slag heap 107, the large clock tower
A route that will take you to the summit of slag heap 107, a fully wooded slag heap. You will follow old mining sidings, which are former railway tracks. You will walk alongside ponds with a bucolic charm, then cross through wild woods or farm tracks with unobstructed views.

This short hike starting from Loos-en-Gohelle will take you to the slag heap and the 11/19 site. On the way back, you will cross the British Military Cemetery and the Canadian Memorial at Hill 70, all on good paths.
Slag heap 115 (known as "Téléphérique" - “The Cable Car”)
The route begins in the forest, with birdwatching available from observation posts. Then the landscape becomes more undulous as you climb Slag heap 115 (viewpoint over the coalfield) and return via the miners' cottages.
Loisne Park via Verquigneul
This beautiful hike, starting from Labourse, will take you through Leo Lagrange Park. It follows a short loop in Verquigneul before reaching Loisne Park and the slag heap, all on good paths and trails.

This walk starting from the 9 and 9bis mining centre will take you over the two spoil heaps, passing behind the Cité des Bonniers and the Bois Gosse, with a view of delta3, then you will cross the Marais de Labiette.The GPX track may prove useful
Slag heaps 116–117, 10 in Oignies
A route that takes you from the former 9-9bis pit in Oignies, with its renovated buildings that will transport you back several decades. You will then cross the Bois de Gosse and stop at the wildlife observatory. The landscape will take on a more lunar appearance as you climb the slag heap, before finally returning to the pit via the old mining sidings (rail tracks).
