Circular route to Poperinge, via Mont Noir from Houplines

Start from the car park ofHouplinessecondary school, Rue Roger Salengro.

(S/E) Opposite the cemetery, turn left towards Belgium, then right onto Rue Paul Cézanne, and left onto Allée Edgar Degas. Continue along Rue des Glycines and, at the end, turn right (Rue Carnot). You will reach a four-way junction.

(1) Turn left, cross the bridge over the Lys, and follow the road to the next hamlet.

(2) At the junction, turn left onto Rue du Cimetière, then right onto Rue de la Mélune, and follow it to the end.

(3) Turn left onto Rue du Touquet, then keep left onto Rue Henri Duribreu. Continue straight on until you reach a wide avenue.

(4) Turn right, then left at the Armentières town boundary sign, onto Chemin des Rabecques. At the corner of No. 24, turn onto the small road on the right, and follow the Bizet on your right. Continue straight on until you reach the end of Rue des Briqueteux.

(5) First turn right then left, and follow Rue Sainte Marie. Keep left at the following junctions, and join a side road.

(6) Turn left, then take the first road on the right, Zuidlindestraat. Then turn left onto Ingelandstraat and follow it to the end.

(7) Turn right onto Niepkerkestraat, then left at the corner of No. 68 onto Spiervelden. Then take the second road on the left, Kortepijpstraat, and follow it to the end.

(8) Opposite No. 118, continue to the right then take the second road on the left. At the top of the second hill, at the four-way junction, continue left onto Heirweg, and follow this road to the end.

(9) Turn left onto Kauwakkerstraat, then take the third left, at the corner of No. 12, onto Kekverstraat, which goes downhill. At the next junction, turn left onto Zwartemolenstraat and stay on this road until the second four-way junction, before entering the village of Dranouter.

(10) Turn left onto Hillestraat, then right onto Festivalstraat, and left onto Koudekotstraat, until you reach a crossroad.

(11) Continue left onto Douanestraat, then immediately right onto Guesne Straete. At the four-way junction, turn left and reach the end of Poperinghe Cruysse Straete, opposite no. 1240.

(12) Turn right and follow the D223 to the end, at Mont Noir.

(13) Turn right and stay on the N372 towards Loker; at the N375, turn right and you will soon come to a road on the left.

(14) Turn left onto the N315 towards Westouter and head for the village church.

(15) Continue to the right towards Poperinge and follow the N315 until you reach a three-way junction. Turn left onto the N398 towards Poperinge and follow Poperingestraat until you reach the start of Westouterseweg.

(16) Turn right onto Hogegraaffstraat and, at the crossroads, first turn left then right, then continue along Busseboomstraat until the next four-way junction.

(17) Turn right onto Ouderdonweg and begin the return journey towards Kemmel. Follow this road to the end.

(18) First turn right then left, then continue along Kemmelseweg. Carry straight on until you reach Kemmel School at the end of Hogenakkerstraat.

(19) Turn left towards the town centre and continue along this road through the town. At the roundabout, take the second exit and follow Wijtschatestraat towards Mesen, then take the second road on the right.

(20) Take this road and follow Vrooilandstraat to the end.

(21) Turn right onto Wulvergemstraat. Continue to Dorpstraat, with Wulverghem Church on your left. Carry on straight ahead onto Sint-Kwintenstraat until you reach the Saint-Quentin Cabaret Military Cemetery.

(22) Go round it on the left and head for the next junction. Turn left onto Rue du Rossignol, then right onto Rue du Rosenberg. At the bottom of the hill, turn left onto Rue du Petit Pont and enter the Bois de la Hutte. After the bend to the right, you’ll reach a cycle path.

(23) Take it to the right and follow this track into the woods. At the end of the track, continue straight on along Chemin des Vaches and follow it to the end, to the petrol station.

(24) Continue to the right, then at the roundabout, head straight across onto the N365 towards Armentières, until you reach No. 178, at the entrance to Le Bizet, just before the mini-market.

(25) Turn left onto Chemin de la Blanche, then right onto Drève de Rabecques to return to France. At the roundabout, take the second exit, then turn immediately right onto Rue d'Houplines and rejoin the route you have already followed.

(2) Continue straight on, cross the bridge, and arrive at the four-way junction.

(1) Head straight on, along Rue Faidherbe, then Rue Anatole Musy. Go round the back of the school in the village of Houplines and, at the end, turn left onto Rue des Glycines, and follow the route in reverse, until you reach the car park ofHouplines secondary school on Rue Roger Salengro (S/E).
